Llandegley ( cy, Llandeglau), is a village near Llandrindod Wells, in the community of Penybont, in Powys, mid Wales, United Kingdom. It is the location of Llandegley International Airport. Llandegley International Airport
Llandegley International Airport is a spoof in the region of the village of Llandegley ( cy, Llandeglau), near Llandrindod Wells, in mid Wales. No such airport exists, but a sign, erected as a practical joke, announces a forthcoming turn off to it. Despite Llandegley having no airfield—much less one of international standard—a visitor to Llandegley, Nicholas Whitehead, erected his own road sign, mimicking the UK's Worboys Committee, standard Worboys signs, on private land on the north side of the A44 road, A44 east of Crossgates, Powys, Crossgates in 2002, showing "Llandegley International [Airport] / / 2½ ". He spent £1,000 on renting the site. The original sign was removed in November 2009, but replaced in 2010 following public outcry. It was replaced again in April 2012. Penybont
Penybont (also sometimes spelled Pen-y-Bont) is a small village in Radnorshire, Powys, Wales. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 428. The community includes the settlement of Llandegley. Penybont colliery The Penybont colliery was opened by the Jaynes Tillery Colliery in 1851. In the 1880s the mine was taken over by Powell's Steam Coal Company Ltd who deepened the mine in 1886. (Note: This colliery is in Abertillery, nowhere near Penybont in Radnorshire). Amenities The village is served by Pen-y-Bont railway station on the Heart of Wales Line. It is also famous for its popular garden centre, Midway Plants - Midway Nurseries, and an eighteenth-century coaching inn called the Severn Arms. The village also has a restored shop/museum/gallery called Thomas's Shop where there is a wool and weaving exhibition and workshop. Radnor Forest
Radnor Forest ( cy, Fforest Clud) in the county of Radnorshire, Wales is a rock dome composed of Silurian shales, mudstones and limestone in Mid Wales. It is a forest in the medieval sense of the word (an area of land set aside for hunting). It lies within the Welsh Marches region since Offa's Dyke lies nearby to the east. The area lies to the north of the Black Mountains and to the east of the Cambrian Mountains. Hergest Ridge is immediately to the south-east of the area (just across the English border into Herefordshire), near the small town of Kington. The highest point in the area is Rhos Fawr a broad plateau which reaches , and is equipped with a trig point to mark the summit. A similar plateau adjoining to the east, Black Mixen is the only Nuttall to have a communications mast (a radio transmitter) on its summit. Fay Jones (politician)
Fay Alicia Jones (born 18 January 1985) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Brecon and Radnorshire since 2019. She is a member of the Conservative Party. She has been serving as Assistant Government Whip since October 2022. Early life and education Fay Jones was born in Cardiff in 1985. Her father is Gwilym Jones, who at the time of her birth was the Conservative MP for Cardiff North. She studied French at King's College London. After graduating from university, Jones' first job was as a researcher for the Prince of Wales.
