Varrak is an Estonian book publishing company founded in 1991, which quickly grew to one of the most popular book publishers in Estonia. It publishes both Estonian and translated works, including children's books, biographies, fiction and history books. The company is named after a character in the Estonian epic poem ''Kalevipoeg''. Tänapäev is an Estonian publishing house established in 1999 and headquartered in Tallinn. The main subjects it publishes are translated and original fiction, history, politics, biographies and children literature. In the year 2000, Tänapäev published 45 books. It published 60 books in 2001, 70 books in 2002, 86 books in 2004, and in 2012, it published about 135 books. About 2/3 of titles are translations, 1/3 Estonian originals. Orto (also ''Eesti Kirjastus Orto'') was an Estonian publishing company outside Estonia. The company published mainly classical works of Estonian literature, but also new books by Estonian-language writers. The company was established in 1944 Helsinki. Vello Salo (until 1945 Endel Vaher; 5 November 1925 Võisiku Parish, Viljandi County – 21 April 2019) was an Estonian Catholic cleric, essayist, translator. He was a notable promoter of Estonian literature in exile. By confession, he was a Catholic. During WW II, he joined with Finnish Infantry Regiment 200. In 1962, he established Estonian exile publishing house Maarjamaa. Since 1998, he was a member of Estonian Writers' Union. Since 2001, he was a priest for Pirita Monastery. In 2018, the documentary film was made about Salo's life. The film was titled as "Igapäevelu müstika" ('Vello Salo: The Mystery of Everyday Life'), directed by Jaan Tootsen.
