Coloane A Power Station
The Coloane A Power Station (CCA; ) is a low-speed diesel-fired power station in Coloane, Macau, China. With an installed capacity of 271.4 MW, it is the largest power station in Macau. History The power station was commissioned on 28 November 1978. Road access To ease the access leading to the power station, the Government of Macau approved the new construction of access road in 2009. The road was completed a year later and was inaugurated on 16 September 2010. The new gate is expected to make things more convenient for staffs, suppliers and visitors. History Inauguration The power station was formally inaugurated on 8 April 2003 in a ceremony attended by Edmund Ho, the Chief Executive of Macau. Upon its launch, the power plant added 38% growth to Macau's total installed capacity of electricity generation. Coloane (Cantonese: Lou Wan) is a former island in Macau that is united with the island of Taipa by an area of reclaimed land known as Cotai. It is located at the southern part of Macau. Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. known simply as CEM or is a private public utility company with a sole concession to transmit, distribute, sell high, medium and low voltage of electricity in Macau. Besides, CEM owns an installed generation capacity of 408 MW. History From 1906 to 1972, the electricity supply service was managed by the "Macao Electric Lighting Company Ltd." (now Melco International Development), which had its headquarters in British Hong Kong. The Macau Power Station (CMC; , pt, Central Térmica de Macau) was a gas and diesel-fired power station in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. Commissioned in 1973 for its first two units, it was the first power station in Macau. It was decommissioned in 2016. History The power plant was originally developed by Macao Electric Lighting Co., Ltd. (MELCO) in the early 1900s. The plant was then operated by the company.
