Luxembourg Brotherhood Of America
The Luxembourg Brotherhood of America, (L.B.A.) is the oldest Luxembourgish Americans, Luxembourg-American organization in the United States. It was founded in 1887 as a benefit society, fraternal organization on Luxembourgers in Chicago, Chicago's South Side, Chicago, south side. Today, it consists of four sections located in the Chicago area and is dedicated to maintaining strong ties between the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and its American Luxembourgers in Chicago, emigrants and their descendants. The L.B.A. offers friendship, camaraderie and celebrations for those of Luxembourg heritage, family, friends, and those interested in the Luxembourg culture. The L.B.A. supports local events and works closely with the Luxembourg American Cultural Society in Belgium, Wisconsin. John The Blind
John the Blind or John of Luxembourg ( lb, Jang de Blannen; german: link=no, Johann der Blinde; cz, Jan Lucemburský; 10 August 1296 – 26 August 1346), was the Count of Luxembourg from 1313 and King of Bohemia from 1310 and titular King of Poland. He is well known for having died while fighting in the Battle of Crécy at age 50, after having been blind for a decade. In his home country of Luxembourg he is considered a national hero. Schueberfouer
The Schueberfouer is the annual Luxembourg City funfair held on the Glacis square in the city district of Limpertsberg. The 680th edition of the largest amusement park in the wider region beyond national borders will start on 20 August 2021 and ends on 8 September 2021. Traditionally, the Schueberfouer starts on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before Saint Bartholomew's day (24 August) and closes on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before 12 September in order to last 20 days every year. In 2010, the fair comprised 184 attractions including 27 major rides, 13 children's rides and 54 restaurants and snacks bars. In 2018, the fair was expected to attract over 2 million visitors.
