Luerhmen History And Culture Museum
The Luerhmen History and Culture Museum () is a historical and cultural complex in Annan District, Tainan, Taiwan. Name ''Luerhmen'' literal meaning means deer ear gate. Architecture The museum building consists of the Luerhmen Tianhou Temple () which was built in 1604 dedicated to Mazu statue which were brought by Koxinga, Luerhmen Residence which was built with southern Fujian architectural style and Zheng Cheng-gong Heritage Museum with sets of collections about Koxinga. Events The Luerhmen Tianhou Temple, dedicated to Mazu, has invited women to serve as "fairies" responsible for performing religious rituals during the first four days of Chinese New Year every year since the 1990s. Annan District () is a coastal district located in the west of Tainan, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Anshun was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. In 1946, the township was incorporated into Tainan City and became Annan District. Tainan
Tainan (), officially Tainan City, is a Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality in southern Taiwan facing the Taiwan Strait on its western coast. Mazu (goddess)
Mazu or Matsu is a Chinese sea goddess also known by several other names and titles. She is the deified form of the legendary figure Lin Mo or Lin Moniang, a Fujianese shamaness whose life span is traditionally dated from 960 to 987. Revered after her death as a tutelary deity of seafarers, including fishermen and sailors, her worship spread throughout China's coastal regions and overseas Chinese communities throughout Southeast Asia and overseas, where some Mazuist temples are affiliated with famous Taiwanese temples. She was thought to roam the seas, protecting her believers through miraculous interventions. She is now generally regarded by her believers as a powerful and a benevolent Queen of Heaven. Koxinga
Zheng Chenggong, Prince of Yanping (; 27 August 1624 – 23 June 1662), better known internationally as Koxinga (), was a Ming loyalist general who resisted the Qing conquest of China in the 17th century, fighting them on China's southeastern coast. In 1661, Koxinga defeated the Dutch outposts on Taiwan and established a dynasty, the House of Koxinga, which ruled part of the island as the Kingdom of Tungning from 1661 to 1683. Tainan Railway Station
Tainan () is a railway station in Tainan, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. Situated in centre of the old town square of Tainan, Tainan Station is the main station of the city and also one of the major stations along the western trunk line in Taiwan. The Shalun line, opened in 2011, allows through services to link the station with THSR Tainan Station. Overview The station has one island platform and one side platform.
