Symbols near their names indicate their fate: * – killed during fighting, * – died for other reason while being active, * – dropped his weapons and is no longer leading any fighters, * – awaiting trial in jail. * – jailed and subsequently acquitted. * – convicted and serving his sentence. * – convicted, completed his sentence. Ndjoukou
Ndjoukou is a sub-prefecture of Kémo in the Central African Republic. Geography The locality is located in the municipality of Galabadja on the right bank of Oubangui, south of Sibut. History The February 2, 1895, the spiritual father Joseph Moreau founded the Catholic mission of the ''Holy Family of Banziris'' of Bessou which is with Bangui, one of the two oldest Catholic missions of the country. Civil war On 25 March 2013 Séléka took control of Ndjoukou. They installed their base there and appointed new mayor. They established checkpoints and looted civilians houses. On 6 April Séléka fighters ransacked local hospital. On 10 October they killed two civilians and burnt down at least 16 homes after local hunter injured one of Séléka fighters. Central African Patriotic Movement
Central African Patriotic Movement (MPC, french: Mouvement patriotique pour la Centrafrique) is a rebel group in the Central African Republic based in nortwestern part of the country. History MPC was formed in July 2015 by Mahamat Al-Khatim. In October 2016 they were accused in taking part in attack which killed 37 civilians, however Al-Khatim denied these claims. In May 2018 MNLC leader, Ahmat Bahar announced that his group was merging with MPC. Eugene Barret Ngaïkosset is a former member of the Central African Armed Forces and leader of Anti-balaka, arrested in 2021 for his war crimes. Life He was born on 8 October 1967 in Bossangoa. Formerly a homeless child, he was trained at Karako military camp in Bangui. From 1996 to 1998 he was a captain of Karako militia. 2021 Boyo Killings
Between 6 and 16 December 2021, a number of Muslim civilians were killed and injured by Anti-balaka fighters supported by government forces and Russian mercenaries in the Boyo commune, located in the Ouaka prefecture of the Central African Republic (CAR). These civilians were attacked for their alleged links with Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC) rebels. The attacks are part of the larger CAR Civil War which has been ongoing since 2012. Prelude In August 2021 security forces approached former Anti-balaka leader in Bambari and asked him to remobilizie his fighters to fight against UPC rebels. Dimitri Ayoloma
Dimitri Placide Ayoloma – is an Anti-balaka commander from the Central African Republic, active in Ouaka and Kémo prefectures. He is responsible for multiple crimes including killing of peacekeeper, looting, arson, assault and kidnapping for ransom. Life He was formerly a member of Central African Armed Forces. In December 2014 he was reportedly Anti-balaka zone commander in Grimari subprefecture under leadership of Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona. On 22 August 2018 he kidnapped two citizens of Ndjoukou subprefecture including village chief and 45-year old Sévérin. He demanded payment of million CFA francs for release. After receiving 370,000 CFA francs and eight goats he released them after beating them with sticks. 2022 Gadzi Clashes
In late March and April 2022 series of intercommunal clashes between in Gadzi and neighboring Yaloke subprefectures in the Central African Republic resulted in dozens of deaths and more than two thousand displaced people. Attacks On 27 March around 150–200 Fulani and 3R rebels attacked Gontikiri village near Gadzi with light and heavy weapons. Since the end of March, a series of attacks in the region have killed ten civilians and injured one person severely. On 3 April group of 12 merchants on board of seven motorcycles was caught by 3R rebels in Zawélé village while travelling towards weekly market in Guen village. Marcel Ndalé
Marcel Ndalé (real name Gbokaho Minang Sylvain) is an Anti-balaka leader from Nana-Mambéré prefecture in the Central African Republic. Life He was born in 1960 in Niem village in Nana-Mambéré province as Gbokaho Minang Sylvain. In 2006 he created a self-defense group to fight with zaraguina bandits together with his two brothers. They also were creating gri-gris amulets. They settled with their extended family in Bouar. In June 2013 following Séléka takeover of the Central African Republic he fled to the bush where he led group of Anti-balaka fighters. May 2017 Bangassou Clashes
During May 2017, a series of clashes occurred in the Central African Republic town of Bangassou between Anti-balaka militias and MINUSCA forces. History On 13 May 2017 around 600 to 700 Anti-balaka fighters entered Bangassou attacking MINUSCA base and Muslim Tokoyo neighborhood. They started pillaging the city and attacking Muslim residents.
