2022 Gadzi Clashes
In late March and April 2022 series of intercommunal clashes between in Gadzi and neighboring Yaloke subprefectures in the Central African Republic resulted in dozens of deaths and more than two thousand displaced people. Attacks On 27 March around 150–200 Fulani and 3R rebels attacked Gontikiri village near Gadzi with light and heavy weapons. Since the end of March, a series of attacks in the region have killed ten civilians and injured one person severely. On 3 April group of 12 merchants on board of seven motorcycles was caught by 3R rebels in Zawélé village while travelling towards weekly market in Guen village. They stripped them of all their belongings and burned down all the motorcycles. Victims, severely beaten were hospitalized in serious condition. Local population in response carried out a reprisal attack on a camp of Fulani Mbororo herders, causing several deaths and injuries. In response Fulani asked 3R rebels to come to support them. Yaloke
Yaloke is a town in the Yaloke-Bossembele sub-prefecture in the Ombella-M'Poko prefecture of the western Central African Republic. History In December 2014, UNHCR was seeking relocation for "474 Muslims from the Peuhl ethnic minority" trapped in the town of Yaloke. The refugees were reported to be in poor physical condition, and "subject to recurrent threats, verbal and physical aggression, and looting by anti-balaka militias." In July 2017 it was reported that the town was under control of security forces. The Anti-balaka is an alliance of militia groups based in the Central African Republic in the early 21st century said to be composed primarily of Christians. However, some church leaders have contested the claimed exclusively Christian character of such groups. Return, Reclamation, Rehabilitation (3R, french: Retour, Réclamation et Réhabilitation) is a rebel group in the northwestern part of Central African Republic. History The group was formed in December 2015 to protect Fulani herders from Anti-balaka militia attacks. On 27 September 2016, they captured the town of De Gaulle (now Koui) killing at least 17 civilians.
