Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including wheelchair users. The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century as lawn tennis. Daniel Heryanto
Daniel Heryanto Dewandaka (born 30 November 1969) is an Indonesian-born former professional tennis player who competed in Davis Cup tennis for both Indonesia and Singapore. Born in 1969, Heryanto competed first for Indonesia and was a doubles gold medalist at the 1989 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, then the following year won two bronze medals at the 1990 Asian Games. He appeared in two Davis Cup ties for Indonesia during his career, against China in 1990 and India in 1991, for a 2/4 overall record. Heryanto later became a permanent resident of Singapore through his time spent as national coach. Between 2003 and 2011 he featured in a total of 25 ties for the Singapore Davis Cup team primarily as a doubles player, while simultaneously serving as team captain. He won a team record 20 rubbers in doubles. Elbert Sie
Alexander Elbert Sie (born 6 September 1987), known as Elbert Sie, is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. After retiring he became a national representative in the sport of soft tennis. Biography Sporting career Born in Bandung, Sie had a best junior world ranking of 63 and appeared in the boys' singles main draw at Wimbledon, before competing professionally at ITF Futures level from 2006 to 2013. Sie reached a career high singles world ranking on the professional tour of 687 and won three Futures doubles titles. At ATP Challenger Level, he made one attempt to qualify, in Bangkok in 2012. Unfortunately, in the first qualifying round, Sie had to retire against Hsin-Han Lee whilst leading 6-2 0-1. As a result, he has never lost a completed set at this level. Aditya Hari Sasongko (born 4 July 1988) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. A left-handed player from Bantul, Yogyakarta, Sasongko competed on the professional tour at ITF Futures. Sasongko appeared in 12 Davis Cup rubbers for Indonesia between 2008 and 2017 across 11 ties, registering four singles wins. Andrian Raturandang (born 29 July 1976) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. He was a gold medalist for Indonesia at the 1997 Southeast Asian Games. Raturandang reached a career high singles ranking of 484 while competing on the professional tour, mostly in satellite and Futures events. He made one ATP Tour singles main draw, as a wildcard at the 1996 Indonesia Open, where he was beaten in the first round by Chris Wilkinson. He also featured twice in the doubles main draw of the Indonesia Open. A five-time Southeast Asian Games medalist, Raturandang represented Indonesia in 10 Davis Cup ties, between 1996 and 1998 and then in 2001. Hendri Susilo Pramono (born 5 July 1979) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. Born in Surakarta, Pramono reached a career high singles ranking of 657 while competing on the professional tour and was ranked as high as 399 in doubles. He spent his career on the ITF Futures circuit and won three doubles titles. Pramono featured in seven Davis Cup ties for Indonesia, between 1999 and 2004, mostly as a doubles player. A regular Southeast Asian Games competitor, Pramono won six medals for his country in tennis, which included a team gold in 2003. He has also represented Indonesia at the Southeast Asian Games in the sport of soft tennis, winning two medals in 2011. At the 2014 Asian Games he was a member of Indonesia's team in soft tennis.
