This page is a list of the hat-tricks scored for the Hungary national football team. Since Hungary's first international association football match in 1920, there have been 73 occasions when a Hungarian player has scored three or more goals (a hat-trick) in a game. The first hat-trick was scored by József Horváth against Bohemia on 7 April 1907. The record for the most goals scored in an international game by a Hungarian player is seven, which has been achieved on just one occasion: by György Sárosi against Austria in 1937, at the 1936–38 Central European International Cup. Sándor Kocsis, Flórián Albert and László Kiss are the only Hungarian players to have scored a hat-trick at the world cup finals, with Sándor Kocsis doing it twice (including a poker) at the 1954 World Cup against South Korea and eventual champions West Germany. Sándor Bodnár (20 September 1890 – 6 November 1955) was a Hungarian association football player who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was a member of the Football at the 1912 Summer Olympics - Men's team squads#Hungary, Hungarian Olympic squad and played one match in the Football at the 1912 Summer Olympics - Matches, main tournament as well as two matches in the Football at the 1912 Summer Olympics - Consolation tournament, consolation tournament. In the consolation tournament he scored one goal, but in the match when Hungary played against England he missed a penalty at 0:0. He later stated that he didn't see a spike that a fieldworker left on the penalty spot. When he kicked the ball, he touched this spike. Imre Schlosser (also known as Imre Schlosser-Lakatos; 11 October 1889 – 18 July 1959) was a Hungarian footballer of Danube Swabian ancestry who played as a forward. He still holds the record as the highest goalscorer in the history of the Hungarian National Championship. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines.
