Panni, Apulia
Panni (Irpino: ) is a village and ''comune'' in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. Geography The town of Panni is located on the top of Monte Sario (Mount Sirius), at 801 m a.s.l. in the Daunian Mountains. The municipal area is between the valley of the Avella stream, which forms the western border with the municipality of Savignano Irpino and that of the Iazzano stream, which runs on the eastern border with the municipality of Bovino. Both the Avella and the Iazzano are tributaries of the Cervaro River that delimits the municipal territory to the north, separating it from that of the town of Montaguto. The southern border is instead delimited by some rugged mountainous reliefs belonging to Monte Crispignano. The hill position ensures a cool climate in summer, which makes Panni a destination for vacationers from all over the surrounding area, locally known and named the Capitanata. It is bounded by the comuni of Accettura, Albano di Lucania, Campomaggiore, Castelmezzano, Cirigliano, Corleto Perticara, Gorgoglione and Laurenzana. Nemoli
Nemoli is a town and ''comune'' of 1,501 inhabitants, found in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. The town, positioned between the Apennine Mountains, is noted for its artisanal work, typically in wood and copper. Geography Nemoli is found in the southernmost area of the province of Potenza. Its territory extends for about 12 miles, or 19.7 kilometers. Located at the center of the Noce valley, it's surrounded by the Sonante, Torbido, and Pulcino rivers, aqueducts from which supply many of the surrounding valley towns with water. To the north, near the old station of Nemoli, at 2585 feet or 788 meters above sea-level, is Lake Sirino. Grassano
Grassano is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Matera, in the southern Italian region of Basilicata. It is located between the Bradano and Basento rivers at an elevation ranging from about above sea level. The town proper is from Matera and from the regional capital, Potenza. History Grassano was founded around 1000 AD. The first official document including the town's name is dated 1123, where it is reported as ''castellum quod vocatur Crassanum'' ("castle which is called Crassanum"). In the 15th century, Grassano was officially a rural seat of the Tricarico's Diocese. Grassano's people later asked King Ladislaus of Naples for an independence act, and Grassano has remained an independent village since January 19, 1414. Carlo Levi was arrested and exiled to Grassano because of his anti-fascist activities. In Grassano, Levi painted about 70 pictures and started discovering southern Italy's problems. Ferrandina ( Lucano: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Matera, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. It is a center for production of high quality olive oil. Geography data The town is located on a hill in the Basento Valley on the western bank of the river Basento. Ferrandina is part of the "Collina Materana" and it is the fourth biggest town in Basilicata. Towns close are: Pomarico, Miglionico, Salandra, Pisticci, Grottole, San Mauro Forte and Craco. Anzi is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. Main sights Anzi boasts the fourth largest static nativity scene in Europe.
