Finland
Finland ( fi, Suomi ; sv, Finland ), officially the Republic of Finland (; ), is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It shares land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland across Estonia to the south. Mikko Niskanen
Mikko Johannes Niskanen (31 January 1929 – 25 November 1990) was a Finnish film director, actor, producer and screenwriter. He directed more than 40 films between 1956 and 1988. His most acclaimed films include '' The Boys'' (1962), ''Under Your Skin'' (1966) ''The Song of the Blood-Red Flower'' (1971), and '' Eight Deadly Shots'' (1972). He won a record number of six Jussi Awards for direction over his career. Career Mikko Niskanen was born in Äänekoski, Central Finland. He was the third of six children, and his father worked as a timber barge pilot. Rauni Mollberg
Rauni Mollberg (April 15, 1929 – October 11, 2007) was a cinema of Finland, Finnish film director who directed movies and TV movies. In 1963 Mollberg directed movies for YLE. He directed a version of ''The Unknown Soldier (1985 film), The Unknown Soldier'' in 1985, 30 years after Edvin Laine directed the original version of it. Mollberg's movie's plot was same as Laine's movie. But Mollberg used unknown actors and the movie was colourised and shot by a handhold camera. Mollberg did not begin directing films for the cinema until he was well into his forties. He made a notable splash on the international festival circuit in 1974 with ''Maa on syntinen laulu, The Earth Is A Sinful Song'' (1973), his debut feature, an earthy, erotically-charged, blood-soaked tale of a young village girl's ill-fated affair with a Sami people, Lapp reindeer herdsman. Mukka. It was entered into the 24th Berlin International Film Festival. Marjatta Raita
Marjatta Raita (17 February 1944, Pori – 27 September 2007) was a Finnish actress, who was best known for her role as Elisabeth Turhapuro in the Uuno Turhapuro movies directed by Spede Pasanen. Raita also appeared in many other films, although she acted mainly in theater. She studied in a theater school in 1962–1965. Born in Pori, Marjatta Raita's parents were Eino and Valli Raita, both actors. She was married to Finnish actor Aarno Sulkanen, by whom she had two children. Ere Kokkonen
Erkki Olavi "Ere" Kokkonen (7 July 1938 – 16 October 2008), born in Savonlinna, was a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He worked closely with Spede Pasanen all the way from the 1960s until Spede's death, as a director, writer and also an actor. Kokkonen's feature film debut was ''Millipilleri'' (1966), co-directed with Spede Pasanen and Jukka Virtanen. In later decades, when Turhapuro films were made less frequently, Kokkonen scripted and directed the ''Vääpeli Körmy'' series of films His career as a director also includes filming of Arto Paasilinna's books, including ''The Ten Graters'' and ''A Charming Mass Suicide''. Uuno Turhapuro (film)
''Uuno Turhapuro'' is a 1973 Finnish comedy film directed by Ere Kokkonen, and the first, black and white Uuno Turhapuro film. It stars Vesa-Matti Loiri, Marjatta Raita, Pertti Pasanen, and Simo Salminen. Uuno Turhapuro is the main character of the film, which was created by Spede and Loiri for Spedevisio. The unexpected success led to the creation of a 19-movie series. In an effort to save money, Uuno became Spede's first feature to be filmed and edited on video before being printed to film for theatrical distribution. This method was employed by Spede all the way into his late 1980s features. The film was the first produced by Spede after nearly a two-year-long hiatus, when Spede's three feature films released in 1971 ('' Hirttämättömät'', '' Saatanan Radikaalit'' and '' Kahdeksas Veljes'') all failed to make a notable profit. Simo Salminen
Simo Veli Atte Salminen (8 November 1932 – 2 September 2015) was a Finnish comic-actor best known for his many performances in movies and television shows by Spede Pasanen, usually playing his sidekick in some fashion. Salminen alongside Vesa-Matti Loiri and Pasanen himself were the three important players in almost all of Pasanen's productions. He frequently played a supporting or at the very least a relevant secondary character in many of Pasanen's films, usually the bungling assistant to the main character (often portrayed by Pasanen). His characters were frequently also called "Simo" (such as in '' Pähkähullu Suomi'', ''Koeputkiaikuinen ja Simon enkelit''). Salminen is best remembered for the role of the luckless mechanic Sörselssön, working at an auto-repair shop with the foul-mouthed Härski Hartikainen (Pasanen) in the ''Uuno Turhapuro'' film series. Vesa-Matti "Vesku" Loiri (4 January 1945 – 10 August 2022) was a Finnish actor, musician and comedian, best known for his role as Uuno Turhapuro, whom he portrayed in a total of 20 movies between the years 1973 and 2004. According to Yle News, ″Loiri was one of Finland's most beloved cultural figures over six decades, playing comic and tragic roles on screen and stage, alongside a musical career″. Life and career Loiri was born in Helsinki on 4 January 1945 to Taito Loiri (1911–1995) and Lily Nylund (1916–2013), and the family moved to North Haaga when Loiri was a child.
