Basketball Africa League
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, similar to the format of the UEFA Champions League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) with sponsorship from Nike, Inc., Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi. Its 2021 BAL season, inaugural season started with the qualifying rounds in October 2019 and the regular season in May 2021. The competition replaces FIBA's Africa Basketball League as the continent's top-tier league. BAL president, Amadou Gallo Fall, announced at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game Africa Luncheon in Chicago, that the season will tip off on 13 March. FAP Basketball
Forces Armées et Police Basketball (), commonly known as simply FAP or FAP Yaoundé, is a basketball team based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. It is the basketball team of the Cameroonian armed forces and police. The team previously played in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and domestically plays the Elite Messieurs. FAP has won the national championship three times, the Cameroon Cup once, and the Central Region League Championship three times. The Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex serves as home arena of the team. History The club was established in 1972 in Yaoundé. Association Sportive Police, commonly known as AS Police, is a basketball club based in Bamako, Mali. The team plays in the Ligue 1. The roster mainly consists of civilians from N'Tomikorobougou, a neighborhood in Bamako, and police officers. The team has known recent success, winning the national championship in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021. City Oilers is a basketball club based in Lugogo, Kampala, Uganda. The team competes in the Ugandan National Basketball League (NBL), where it has won eight championships, the most in league history. The Oilers play in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in the 2023 season. History The club was founded by a group of friends who decided to play basketball together. BC Espoir Fukash is a Congolese basketball team based in Kinshasa. The team plays in the Liprobakin, Kinshasa's premier basketball league.
