AS Police (basketball, Mali)
Association Sportive Police, commonly known as AS Police, is a basketball club based in Bamako, Mali. The team plays in the Ligue 1. The roster mainly consists of civilians from N'Tomikorobougou, a neighborhood in Bamako, and police officers. The team has known recent success, winning the national championship in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021. The Police have also won five Malian Cups and were one of the twelve teams that played in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2021. History In 2019, Police won its second Malian national championship. Under head coach Moussa Sogoré, the team went unbeaten (9–0) on its way to its maiden title. By winning this title, Police earned the right to play in the 2020 BAL qualifiers. The Ligue 1 (for sponsorship reasons known as Ligue 1 Orange S.A., Orange) is the premier basketball competition for clubs in Mali. The league consist out of ten teams. The most decorated team in the league is Stade Malien (basketball), Stade Malien, who have won a record 18 league championships. Jawachi Nzeakor
Jawachi "Joshua" Nzeakor (born June 13, 1997) is an American-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Birmingham Squadron of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Lamar Cardinals. Professional career Nzeakor signed with Malian club AS Police of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). A year later, Nzeakor joined the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League. On January 10, 2022, he recorded 6 points and 7 rebounds in his debut during a 132–130 defeat to the Santa Cruz Warriors. Forces Armées et Police Basketball (), commonly known as simply FAP or FAP Yaoundé, is a basketball team based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. It is the basketball team of the Cameroonian armed forces and police. The team previously played in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and domestically plays the Elite Messieurs. 2022 BAL Qualification
The qualification tournaments for the 2022 BAL season were the qualification rounds for the second season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The tournaments began on 19 October 2021 and ended 16 December 2021. The competition consisted out of two stages: the first round and the elite 16. Six teams advanced to the group phase of the BAL.
