Line 12 (Dalian Metro)
Line 12 of the Dalian Metro () is a rapid transit line running in northern Dalian. It opened on 1 May 2014. The line connects central Dalian with Lüshunkou over with 8 stations from east to west. This line begins at Hekou station and stretches southwest ending at Lüshun New Port station. Similar to Line 3, all the stations have side platforms with tracks in the platform area have no ballast Ballast is material that is used to provide stability to a vehicle or structure. The Dalian Metro is a rapid transit system in the city of Dalian, Liaoning, China. The metro opened on 1 May 2003. The system currently in operation consists of 5 lines: Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 12, and Line 13. Network Line 1 Line 1, which opened in 2015, connects east southeast central Dalian with north Dalian. The total length is 28.34 km, with 22 underground stations. Dalian () is a major sub-provincial port city in Liaoning province, People's Republic of China, and is Liaoning's second largest city (after the provincial capital Shenyang) and the third-most populous city of Northeast China. Liaoning
Liaoning () is a coastal province in Northeast China that is the smallest, southernmost, and most populous province in the region. With its capital at Shenyang, it is located on the northern shore of the Yellow Sea, and is the northernmost coastal province of the People's Republic of China. Lüshunkou District
Lüshunkou District (also Lyushunkou District; ) is a district of Dalian, Liaoning province, China. Also formerly called Lüshun City () or literally Lüshun Port (), it was formerly known as both Port Arthur (russian: Порт-Артур, translit=Port-Artur) and Ryojun ( ja, 旅順). The district's area is and its permanent population is 324,773. Lüshunkou is located at the extreme southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula. It has an excellent natural harbor, the possession and control of which became a '' casus belli'' of the Russo-Japanese War (1904–05). Line 3 (Dalian Metro)
Line 3 of the Dalian Metro (R3; ) is a rapid transit line running from southwest to northwest Dalian. It was opened on the 8 November 2002. This line is long with 12 stations. Line 3 is almost completely at grade or above ground; is elevated, is underground and is at grade. Six stations are elevated, and the remainder are at grade. Transfers to trams and trains are possible at the Dalian Railway Station. The northern area of the city, where the Economic and Technology Development Zone is located, is not well-served by buses. The metro line beginning at the downtown commercial center (near the Dalian railway station) runs through five administrative districts of the city and serves as an express transport between the northern (developing) region and the downtown area. Track Ballast
Track ballast forms the trackbed upon which railroad ties (sleepers) are laid. It is packed between, below, and around the ties. It is used to bear the load from the railroad ties, to facilitate drainage of water, and also to keep down vegetation that might interfere with the track structure. Trams In Dalian
Trams in Dalian have been operating continuously since 1909 making them one of the oldest tram systems still in use in Mainland China. There were once eleven routes in operation in Dalian in the Northeast China. Only two routes remain in use today (Route 201 and 202). There was a route 203 which currently merged into route 201. Notably, most of the staff on Dalian's tram system are female, i.e. – driver, conductor, points man — even the depot manager.
