Latino Latini (Latinus Latinius) (Viterbo, ca. 1513 – 21 January 1593) was an Italian scholar and humanist. Latini was a member of the commission for the revision of the ''Corpus Juris canonici''. He is known for his lifelong research into the texts of the Fathers of the church and his critical editions of their works, including those of Cyprian. He published notes on Tertullian and worked on the text of Quintilian. Life Latini studied jurisprudence and belles-lettres at Siena. In 1552 he took holy orders at Rome. A poor man, he was obliged to find a patron and entered the service of cardinal Pozzo, for whom he was Latin secretary. He then became librarian to Cardinal Rudolfo Pio. Pio died in 1564, leaving his extensive library to Latini. He then worked for cardinals Farnese and Colonna. Laura Latini (November 3, 1969 – August 19, 2012) was an Italian voice actress. Biography Latini was the first-born daughter of voice actor Franco Latini and dialogue writer Maria Pinto. She was also the sister of voice actress Ilaria Latini and the half-sister of voice actor Fabrizio Vidale. Brunetto Latini (who signed his name ''Burnectus Latinus'' in Latin and ''Burnecto Latino'' in Italian; –1294) was an Italian philosopher, scholar, notary, politician and statesman. Life Brunetto Latini was born in Florence in 1220 to a Tuscan noble family, the son of Buonaccorso Latini. He belonged to the Guelph party. He was a notary and a man of learning, much respected by his fellow citizens and famed for his skill as an orator. He expounded the writings of Cicero as guidance in public affairs. He was of sufficient stature to be sent to Seville on an embassy to Alfonso el Sabio of Castile to seek help for Florence against the Sienese; the mission was unsuccessful. Antonio Latini (1642–1692) was a steward of Cardinal Antonio Barberini, cardinal-nephew of Pope Urban VIII in Rome and subsequently to Don Stefano Carillo Salcedo, first minister to the Spanish viceroy of Naples. Biography Born in Collamato, now a ''frazione'' of the town of Fabriano, in the province of Ancona, his cookbook, ''Lo scalco alla moderna'' "the Modern Steward", (Naples, vol. I 1692, vol. II 1694), contains in its first volume the (surprisingly late) earliest surviving recipes for tomato sauce, though he did not suggest serving it over pasta. Classical Latin is the form of Literary Latin recognized as a literary standard by writers of the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire.
