Lake Local School District is a public school district in Northwest Ohio. The school district primarily serves students who live in Lake Township and the villages of Millbury and Walbridge in Wood County. Millbury, Ohio
Millbury is a village in Wood County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,200 at the 2010 census. History Previously, the site of Millbury was known as Clay Junction. Millbury was platted in 1864, and named after Millbury, Massachusetts. A post office called Millbury has been in operation since 1857. Millbury was incorporated in 1874. 2010 tornado At approximately 11:15 PM on June 5, 2010, an EF4 tornado tore through the town, destroying at least 50 homes and killing seven people. This tornado also destroyed the Lake Township Administration Building and Police Department, and Lake High School. Governor Ted Strickland declared a state of emergency. Northwest Ohio
Northwest Ohio, or Northwestern Ohio, consists of multiple counties in the northwestern corner of the US state of Ohio. This area borders Lake Erie, Southeast Michigan, and northeastern Indiana. The 2010 census found 10,972 people in the township, 6,753 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township. Wood County, Ohio
Wood County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 132,248. Its county seat is Bowling Green. The county was named for Captain Eleazer D. Wood, the engineer for General William Henry Harrison's army, who built Fort Meigs in the War of 1812. Wood County is part of the Toledo, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its diagonal northwest border is formed by the Maumee River, which has its mouth at Maumee Bay on Lake Erie. Northwood, Ohio
Northwood is a city and eastern suburb in Wood County, Ohio, United States, within the Toledo metropolitan area. The population was 5,265 at the 2010 census. History Northwood was originally Ross Township. It was the northernmost township in Wood County from its establishment on April 18, 1874 until December 1, 1962. Farms, gardens, orchards, and railroads covered the area located just south of east Toledo. In 1898 Edward Ford's glass factory was built along the Maumee River, which ultimately led to the incorporation of the village of Rossford in 1939 within the western portion of the township. Ross Township was then divided so that Rossford Township would serve as a barrier between Rossford and the remaining Ross Township. On December 1, 1962, Ross Township ceased to exist when it became incorporated as the city of Northwood, so aptly named because of its location at the top of Wood County. The newspaper was first published on December 19, 1835. Overview The first issue of what was then the ''Toledo Blade'' was printed on December 19, 1835. It has been published daily since 1848 and is the oldest continuously run business in Toledo. David Ross Locke gained national fame for the paper during the Civil War era by writing under the pen name Petroleum V. Nasby.
