Lollywood
Lollywood ( ur, , translit=lâli vuḍ) refers to Pakistan's film industry based in Lahore, previously the base for both Punjabi and Urdu language film production. Lahore has been the center of Pakistani cinema since the partition of India in 1947. However, with Urdu film hub largely shifting to Karachi by 2007, film industry in Lahore became synonymous with Pakistani Punjabi film Industry. Chiragh Jalta Raha is a 1962 Pakistani Urdu film produced and directed by ''Fazal Ahmad Karim Fazli''. The film introduced Zeba, Deeba, Muhammad Ali, Talat Hussain, and Kemal Irani. Miss Fatima Jinnah opened the film's premiere in March 1962. ''Chiragh Jalta Raha'' won a Nigar Award in the best script writer category. Plot The central theme of the movie revolves around how politicians abuse the system. ''Shakir'' is a principled and virtuous school headteacher in his town. ''Heera Aur Pathar'' () is a 1964 Pakistani Urdu language black-and-white film. It is the first film of Waheed Murad as a lead actor who also produced it. The film was released on 11 December 1964. Murad introduced film director Pervez Malik for the first time in the Pakistani cinema world. Also he had introduced film editor, M. Sohni Mahiwal or Suhni Mehar ( pa, , ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਹੀਂਵਾਲ is one of the four popular tragic romances of Punjab including Sindh. In Sindh Sohni's shrine is in Shahdadpur Town of Sangar District. The others are Sassi Punnun, Mirza Sahiba, and Heer Ranjha. Sohni Mahiwal is a tragic love story which inverts the classical motif of Hero and Leander. The heroine Sohni, unhappily married to a man she despises, swims every night across the river using an earthenware pot to keep afloat in the water, to where her beloved Mehar herds buffaloes. One night her sister-in-law replaces the earthenware pot with a vessel of unbaked clay, which dissolves in water and she dies in the whirling waves of the river. The story also appears in Shah Jo Risalo and is one of seven popular tragic romances from Sindh.
