Kippa-Ring is a suburb in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kippa-Ring had a population of 9,790 people. Geography Kippa-Ring is located in the centre of the Redcliffe Peninsula, by road west of Redcliffe and by road north-north-east of Brisbane, the state capital. Designated as the commercial, retail and financial centre for the Redcliffe region, Kippa-Ring houses the bulk of the commercial and retail sectors on the peninsula including the largest shopping centres. Kippa-Ring railway station is in Hindmarsh Street (). It is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line. History The suburb's name is a combination of the Kabi indigenous word "kippa", meaning young uninitiated man, and ring, a reference to a bora ring. Redcliffe Peninsula Railway Line
The Redcliffe Peninsula line is a 12 km stretch of heavy gauge dual-track railway between Petrie and Kippa-Ring on the Redcliffe peninsula. The new line is part of Queensland Rail's City suburban network, branching from the North Coast line. It starts 200 metres north of Petrie railway station, extending from ( to north of Central railway station). The line has six stations: Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, Mango Hill, Mango Hill East (previously called Kinsellas Road), Rothwell and Kippa-Ring. Funding for the project consisted of $742 million from the Commonwealth Government, $300 million from the Queensland Government (plus another $120 million for land) and $105 million from the Moreton Bay Regional Council. Kippa-Ring Railway Station
Kippa-Ring railway station is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line and serves the suburb of Kippa-Ring in Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It features a park & ride facility and local bus stops. A stabling facility, capable of holding 10 six car trains, is located to the west of the station. It opened, together with the rail line, on 4 October 2016. Following an upgrade Kippa-Ring railway station's car park, the station now has 408 parking spaces, consisting of 396 normal parking spaces, two new family parking spaces, and ten disability parking spaces, eight are located near the grassed area at the entrance to the station, with two of the originally installed spaces still available, with the rest being replaces by the two family parking spots and seven regular parking spots. Anzac Avenue is a heritage-listed major arterial road lined with trees in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It runs from Petrie to Redcliffe, with most of the route signed as state route 71. The route was formerly the main route to the Redcliffe peninsula, until the Hornibrook Bridge was opened in 1935. Opened in 1925, Anzac Memorial Avenue (as it was originally named) is the longest World War I memorial avenue in Queensland and was the first bitumen motor road connecting Brisbane to the popular holiday resort of Redcliffe, and reflects the growth in car usage in the early 1920s. Redcliffe is a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral division in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
