Norfolk County is a rural single-tier municipality on the north shore of Lake Erie in Southwestern Ontario, Canada with a 2016 population of 67,490. Despite its name, it is no longer a county by definition, as all municipal services are handled by a single level of government. The largest community in Norfolk County is Simcoe, whose 2016 population was 13,922. The other population centres are Port Dover, Delhi, Waterford and Port Rowan, and there are many smaller communities. For several years in the late 20th century, the county was merged with Haldimand County but the merged entity was dissolved in 2000. Kinglake is a town in Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shires of Murrindindi and Nillumbik local government areas. Kinglake recorded a population of 1,662 at the 2021 census. The town was one of the worst affected during the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. Location Kinglake, comprising forest, farmland, a national park and a township, is located north east of Melbourne, in the Kinglake Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range. The Kinglake Ranges vary in height from above sea level. ABC Kinglake Ranges
ABC Kinglake Ranges was a temporary radio service broadcasting from Kinglake, Victoria, Australia, to areas in the Shire of Murrindindi affected by the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009. The station was first broadcast on 9 March 2009, initially from a makeshift transmitter on 97.1FM. Coverage extended to the towns of Flowerdale and Hazeldene through the local repeater of the Wodonga-based ABC Goulburn Murray service. The station broadcast a local breakfast program, presented from the studios of 774 ABC Melbourne by Louise Fitzroy. A mornings program was presented from temporary studios in Kinglake by Simon Rogers, with additional community-focused programming and simulcasts of national programming from ABC Local Radio. In July 2009, the service ceased broadcasting after five months on air. Alexandra-based UGFM commenced operation of a permanent community radio station on 94.5FM in Kinglake from 6 September 2009. Kinglake Football Club
The Kinglake Football Club was officially formed in 1925 and is today based at the Kinglake Memorial Oval, Cnr Extons Rd & Kinglake-Whittlesea Rd, Kinglake, Victoria, Kinglake. Before the Exton's Rd oval, Kinglake played on the Exton's family land or vacant land behind the Kinglake Hotel in Kinglake. The club is nicknamed "The Lakers" and today wears a yellow jumper with three green designs shaped as mountains and plays in the Third Division of the Northern Football Netball League. The Lakers currently field a Senior & Reserves team, as well as several junior football teams. Kinglake West, Victoria
Kinglake West is a town in Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whittlesea and the Shires of Murrindindi and Nillumbik local government areas. Kinglake West recorded a population of 1,305 at the 2021 census. The town was substantially damaged in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, including 10 fatalities. History Kinglake West is situated north-east of Whittlesea in the Kinglake Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range. Only Kinglake West is in the City of Whittlesea. The area was named after the surveyor Alexander Kinglake, who marked out a track over the ranges in 1878. Gold was first discovered in the area in 1861. The area was later cleared for timber and farming. Timber milling had a relatively long life.
