Kinglake Football Club
The Kinglake Football Club was officially formed in 1925 and is today based at the Kinglake Memorial Oval, Cnr Extons Rd & Kinglake-Whittlesea Rd, Kinglake, Victoria, Kinglake. Before the Exton's Rd oval, Kinglake played on the Exton's family land or vacant land behind the Kinglake Hotel in Kinglake. The club is nicknamed "The Lakers" and today wears a yellow jumper with three green designs shaped as mountains and plays in the Third Division of the Northern Football Netball League. The Lakers currently field a Senior & Reserves team, as well as several junior football teams. Northern Football Netball League
The Northern Football Netball League (formerly known as the Diamond Valley Football League and later Northern Football League) is an Australian sports league based in the Diamond Valley region of suburban Melbourne, Victoria. The league regulates competitions of both sports, Australian rules football and netball in the region. History The league was founded in 1922, originally having six clubs, three of whom still participate. In 1941 the league went into recess for five years as a result of World War II, the competition recommencing in 1946. After the war the league continued to grow. Formation of Division Two In 1981 the league was split into two divisions. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Kinglake, Victoria
Kinglake is a town in Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shires of Murrindindi and Nillumbik local government areas. Kinglake recorded a population of 1,662 at the 2021 census. The town was one of the worst affected during the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. The AFL Yarra Ranges was an Australian rules football and netball organisation based in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges within Victoria. The organisation operated the Yarra Ranges Senior Football league and the Yarra Ranges Junior Football league. The Shire of Murrindindi is a local government area in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia, located in the north-east part of the state. It covers an area of and, in June 2018, had a population of 14,478. It includes the towns of Alexandra, Buxton, Eildon, Flowerdale, Kinglake, Marysville, Molesworth, Strath Creek, Taggerty, Yarck and Yea.
