Kidatu
Kidatu is a town in central Tanzania, located in Kilombero District, Morogoro Region. The local population is about 3,300. The primary economic activity is the large Illovo sugar cane plantation and factory which produces of sugar per year. Geography It lies on plains to the south of mountains to the north. Transport Kidatu is the terminus of a narrow gauge branch line from Kilosa off the Tanzania Railways Corporation Central line, built between 1958 and 1963.. Kidatu Dam
Kidatu Dam, also Kidadu Hydroelectric Power Station, is a hydroelectric dam in Tanzania. Transport In Tanzania

The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is a state-owned enterprise that runs one of Tanzania's two main railway networks. When the East African Railways and Harbours Corporation was dissolved in 1977 and its assets divided between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, TRC was formed to take over its operations in Tanzania. Kilombero District
Kilombero District is a district in Morogoro Region, south-western Tanzania. The district is situated in a vast floodplain, between the Kilombero River in the south-east and the Udzungwa-Mountains in the north-west. On the other side of the Kilombero River, in the south-east, the floodplain is part of Ulanga District. According to the last census in 2002, the population of Kilombero District is 321,611 The main ethnic groups are Wapogoro, Wandamba, Wabena, and Wambunga and several others in small proportions. The area is predominantly rural with the semi-urban district headquarters Ifakara as major settlement. The majority of the villagers are subsistence farmers of maize and rice. East African Railway Master Plan
The East African Railway Master Plan is a proposal for rejuvenating the railways serving Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda and adding railways to serve Rwanda and Burundi. The objective is to further the economic development of eastern Africa by increasing the efficiency and speed, and lowering the cost, of transporting cargo between major ports on the Indian Ocean coast and the interior. All new railways will be standard-gauge, and existing narrow-gauge railways will be rehabilitated. The plan accounts for break of gauge issues and aims for a good interoperability within the resulting hybrid railway network.
