Khlong Thom District
Khlong Thom ( th, คลองท่อม, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in Krabi province, Thailand. Geography Neighboring districts are (from the west clockwise): Ko Lanta district, Ko Lanta, Nuea Khlong district, Nuea Khlong, Khao Phanom district, Khao Phanom, and Lam Thap district, Lam Thap of Krabi Province, and Wang Wiset district, Wang Wiset and Sikao district, Sikao of Trang province. To the southwest is the Andaman Sea. History In 1917, the district's name was changed from ''Khlong Phon'' (คลองพล) to ''Khlong Thom''. Administration The district is divided into seven sub-districts (''tambons''), which are further subdivided into 67 villages (''mubans''). There are two sub-district municipalities (''thesaban tambons''): Khlong Thom Tai and Khlong Phon, each covering parts of the same-named ''tambons''. Sikao District
Sikao ( th, สิเกา, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the northwestern part of Trang province, Thailand. History Sikao district was established in 1887. The present district office was opened 1 March 1987. Sikao District's administrative office is in Bohin Sub-district (Sikao townships) Geography Neighboring districts are (from the northwest clockwise): Khlong Thom of Krabi province; Wang Wiset, Mueang Trang, and Kantang of Trang Province. A ''rai'' ( th, ไร่, ) is a unit of area equal to 1,600 square metres (16 ares, 0.16 hectares, 0.3954 acres), and is used in measuring land area for a cadastre or cadastral map. Its current size is precisely derived from the metre, but is neither part of nor recognized by the modern metric system, the International System (SI). The rai is defined as 1 square ''sen'' or (40 m × 40 m). It can be divided in four ''ngaan'' or 400 square '' wa''. It is commonly used in Thailand. Mechai Viravaidya
Mechai Viravaidya (born 17 January 1941, th, มีชัย วีระไวทยะ; ) is a former politician and activist in Thailand who promoted condoms, family planning and AIDS awareness in Thailand. Since the 1970s, Mechai has been affectionately known as "Mr. Condom", and condoms are often referred as "mechais" in Thailand. From the time that he began his work, the average number of children in Thai families has decreased from 7 to 1.5. He has been credited with leading efforts which improved the lives of millions of people. Early life Mechai was born in Bangkok to a Scottish mother and a Thai father, both of whom were doctors and had met when studying in Edinburgh. He is one of four children. Muban ( th, หมู่บ้าน; , ) is the lowest administrative sub-division of Thailand. Usually translated as 'village' and sometimes as 'hamlet', they are a subdivision of a tambon (subdistrict). , there were 74,944 administrative mubans in Thailand. Andaman Sea
The Andaman Sea (historically also known as the Burma Sea) is a marginal sea of the northeastern Indian Ocean bounded by the coastlines of Myanmar and Thailand along the Gulf of Martaban and west side of the Malay Peninsula, and separated from the Bay of Bengal to its west by the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar Islands. Its southern end is at Breueh Island just north of Sumatra, with the Strait of Malacca further southeast.
