Kedron is a northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kedron had a population of 9,359 people. Geography Kedron is centred on Gympie Road and Kedron Brook. It is close to Westfield Chermside shopping centre in the neighbouring suburb of Chermside. Kedron is an inner-northern suburb that neighbours Stafford, Chermside, Wavell Heights, Wooloowin, Lutwyche, and Nundah. Despite the similarity in names, the Brisbane suburbs of Kedron and Upper Kedron are 15.3 kilometres apart. History German missionaries originally settled in the Nundah area (known as German Station) in 1838. These missionaries were granted alongside the creek they named Kedron Brook, after Kidron Valley near Jerusalem. The suburb takes its name from the creek. The first land sales commenced in 1857. Kedron Lodge is a heritage-listed villa at 123 Nelson Street, Kalinga (formerly in Wooloowin), City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by architect Christopher Porter and was built from 1860 to the early 1900s by John Petrie. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Kedron Lodge was one of the first Brisbane dwellings designed by architect Christopher Porter. It was built by John Petrie, for the first judge of the Queensland Supreme Court, Alfred James Lutwyche (1810–1880). The judge had purchased portion 18 of for in January 1860. He established a very viable farm and orchard, and built stables to satisfy his horse-racing interests. Justice Alfred James Peter Lutwyche, Queen's Counsel (26 February 1810 – 12 June 1880) was the first judge of the Supreme Court Bench of Queensland. Early life Lutwyche was the eldest son of John Lutwyche, of a Worcestershire family, who removed to London and started as a leather merchant, under the firm of Lutwyche & George, in Skinner Street, Snow Hill. Lutwyche was educated at Charterhouse School and at the Queen's College, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1828 and graduated B.A. in 1832, and subsequently M.A. While still at university, he had decided to pursue a career in law and became a student at the Middle Temple in London. The Kidron Valley ( classical transliteration, ''Cedron'', from he, נחל קדרון, ''Naḥal Qidron'', literally Qidron River; also Qidron Valley) is the valley originating slightly northeast of the Old City of Jerusalem, which then separates the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. It continues in a general south-easterly direction through the Judean desert in the West Bank, reaching the Dead Sea near the settlement of Ovnat, and descending along its course. Nundah (previously called German Station) is an inner suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It contains the neighbourhood of Toombul. In the , Nundah had a population of 12,141 people. Prior to European settlement, Nundah was inhabited by Aboriginal people from the Turrbul tribe. Nundah is primarily a residential suburb, which straddles Sandgate Road, one of the major arterial roads of Brisbane's north. It was first settled by Europeans in the mid-19th century, although the suburb remained primarily a rural area until it was connected to Brisbane via railway in the 1880s. Originally considered a working-class suburb, the area has become gentrified in recent years, and today features a mix of traditional worker's cottages and modern high-density apartment blocks.
