Jorge Coll
Jorge Coll (born 1977/1978) is a Spanish art dealer, and the CEO of Colnaghi, one of the world's oldest art galleries and dealerships. Early life The son of a Spanish art dealer, Coll grew up in Barcelona and after finishing his studies spent four years working in his family's art dealing business. Career In 2005, in partnership with Nicolas Cortés, he founded Coll & Cortés, an art dealership based in Madrid. In 2012 they expanded and opened a gallery in London's Mayfair district. In October 2015, Coll and Cortés merged with Colnaghi, one of the world's oldest art galleries, and Jorge assumed the role of CEO. Coll and Cortés had already sold works of art to more than 40 museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre and the Prado. Colnaghi
Colnaghi is an art dealership in St James's, central London, England, which is the oldest commercial art gallery in the world, having been established in 1760. Foundation The business that became the Colnaghi gallery was established by Italian firework manufacturer, Giovanni Battista Torre, in Paris, France, in 1760. Torre opened a shop with the name "Cabinet de Physique Expérimentale", where he sold scientific instruments, books and prints. In 1767, Torre's son Anthony Torre moved to London where he opened a sister shop, specialising in prints, in partnership with another Italian immigrant, Anthony Molteno. Giovanni Torre died in 1780, and in 1784 Anthony Torre hired Paul Colnaghi—newly arrived in Paris from Milan—to manage a new shop in Palais Royal, Paris. The European Fine Art Fair (abbreviated: TEFAF) is an annual art, antiques and design fair organized by ''The European Fine Art Foundation'' in the MECC in Maastricht, Netherlands. It was first held in 1988. The ten-day fair attracts about 75,000 visitors and is considered one of the world's leading art fairs.
