João Aguiar (swimmer)
João Carlos da Silva Paquete Aguiar (born September 8, 1983) is an Angolan swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He represented Angola, as a 17-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and held numerous Angolan titles and meet records in the 50 m freestyle, while playing for August 1 Swimming Club in Luanda. Aguiar competed only in the men's 50 m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He received a ticket from FINA, under a Universality program, in an entry time of 24.00. He challenged seven other swimmers in heat three, including two-time Olympians Howard Hinds of the Netherlands Antilles and Emin Guliyev of Azerbaijan. Howard Xavier Hinds (born October 29, 1977) is a Curaçao former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian (1996 and 2000), and a member of the Fort Lauderdale Swim Team, under head coach Jack Nelson. Hinds made his official debut for the Netherlands Antilles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He failed to reach the top 16 final in the 50 m freestyle, finishing only in fifty-fourth place at 24.63. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Hinds competed only in a sprint freestyle double. Emin Aleksandr Guliyev (born October 8, 1975 in Baku) is an Azerbaijani former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He represented Azerbaijan in two editions of the Olympic Games since the nation officiated its debut from the former Soviet Union in 1996.
