Joyann Thomas
Joyann Geraldine Thomas (Urdu: ; born 9 November 1998) is a football player from Pakistan. She plays as a defender for the national team as well as for her club, Balochistan United. She is the first female Christian to play football for Pakistan. Early life and education Thomas was born to Joyce Christina, who was a national gold medallist in the 1500 m event. Thomas is a Roman Catholic and completed her schooling from St. Joseph's Convent School in Karachi. Career Thomas started her youth career from Laurentian Football Club located in Garden East neighbourhood of Karachi. There, she trained under coach Khayyam Juma. 2014 National Women Football Championship
The 2014 National Women Football Championship was the 10th season of the National Women Football Championship, the top-tier of women's football in Pakistan. The tournament started on 12 August and concluded on 29 August 2014, with three group stages played in Lahore and one group stage played in Karachi. Young Rising Stars were the defending champions. They were knocked-out in the quarter-finals by Pakistan Army losing 3–2. Balochistan United won the championship after defeating WAPDA 7–0 in finals. Balochistan United were the highest goal-scoring team in the tournament as well, scoring 64 goals in 6 matches, with top-scorer Hajra Khan scoring 31 goals. National Women Football Championship
The National Women Football Championship is the top cup competition for women's football clubs in Pakistan – designed as an equivalent to the National Challenge Cup for men. It was started in 2005 by the Pakistan Football Federation. Young Rising Stars has been the most successful team in the history of he competition, winning it five times (including four consecutive wins from 2010 to 2013). WAPDA has had the most final appearances (7), winning once and losing six times. The most recent champion is Pakistan Army, which defended its 2018 title in 2019-20.
