Jos Vandeloo
Josephus Albertus "Jos" Vandeloo (5 September 1925 – 5 October 2015) was a Belgian writer and poet. Biography He grew up in a mining family from Zonhoven and graduated as a chemist for the mining industry. After the war he started working in the mine as a coal specialist and for this he travelled throughout Europe (up to 1953). At the same time he also studied Dutch and French literature at the ''Royal Academy'' and the ''Higher Institute for Arts'' in Antwerp. After his career in the mine (as deputy director), he became director of the Belgian division of the publisher ''Manteau'', which published a number of his works. In the sixties he was for a while sports commentator for the Belgian Radio and Television (BRT). Since 1963 he has lived in Mortsel near Antwerp. Jos is a city in the north central region of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called "J-Town", it is the administrative capital and largest city of Plateau State. Zonhoven (; li, Zoneve) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg near Hasselt. On January 1, 2018, Zonhoven had a total population of 21,214. The total area is 39.34 km2 which gives a population density of 506 inhabitants per km2. The municipality includes the hamlets Halveweg, Termolen, and Terdonk. Mortsel
Mortsel () is a city and municipality close to the city of Antwerp located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the city of Mortsel proper. In 2021, Mortsel had a total population of 26,170 people. The total area is 7.78 km². Geography The city consists of the areas Mortsel-Dorp, Oude-God and Luithagen. Mortsel is bordered by Antwerp (districts Wilrijk, Berchem and Deurne), Borsbeek, Boechout, Hove, and Edegem. History Mortsel was the scene for one of the major collateral damage tragedies of World War II. Flemish Literature
Flemish literature is literature from Flanders, historically a region comprising parts of present-day Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Until the early 19th century, this literature was regarded as an integral part of Dutch literature. After Belgium became independent from the Netherlands in 1830, the term Flemish literature acquired a narrower meaning and refers to the Dutch-language literature produced in Belgium. It remains a part of Dutch-language literature. Flemish (''Vlaams'') is a Low Franconian dialect cluster of the Dutch language. It is sometimes referred to as Flemish Dutch (), Belgian Dutch ( ), or Southern Dutch (). Flemish is native to Flanders, a historical region in northern Belgium; it is spoken by Flemings, the dominant ethnic group of the region.
