Johnny Moncada
Johnny Moncada (1928 in Rome – 2011 in Rome) was an Italian fashion photographer. Biography Johnny Moncada (Giovanni Luigi Moncada di Paternò), son of Conte Corrado Moncada dei Principi di Paternò, Sicilian aristocrat of Spanish descent and Teresa Patrizi, daughter of Marchese Giuseppe Patrizi and Francesca Lee Cooper, descendant from the Lees of Virginia. His career began with advertising photography and takes a definite path after meeting Joan Whelan, in 1954, an American model for Hubert de Givenchy who had just arrived in Rome to show Emilio Pucci clothes. They became inseparable and were married in 1956. The photos of Johnny Moncada, a synthesis between art and fashion, capture the spirit of their time with great elegance and style. Pino Lancetti
Giuseppe "Pino" Lancetti (27 November 1932 – 8 March 2007) was an Italian fashion designer and the founder of the Lancetti fashion label. He was nicknamed the "sarto pittore" ("tailor painter"). Life and career Born in Bastia Umbra, Lancetti studied at the Accademia San Bernardino di Betto in Perugia, and in 1954 he moved to Rome where he opened an atelier in Via Margutta. In 1961, he launched his first ready-to-wear at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, and in 1963 he had his breakout with a military-inspired collection. Between late 1960s and 1970s Lancetti presented several collections inspired by famous painters, which got him the nickname of "sarto pittore" ("tailor painter"). Moscow Manege
The Moscow Manege ( rus, Мане́ж, p=mɐˈnʲeʂ, a=Ru-манеж.ogg) is an oblong building along the west side of Manege Square, which was cleared in the 1930s and lies adjacent to Red Square. It is the site of Moscow Design Museum since 2012. Designed by Spanish engineer Agustín de Betancourt with a roof without internal support for (the building's width), it was erected from 1817 to 1825 by the Russian architect Joseph Bové, who clothed it in its Neoclassical exterior, an order of Roman Doric columns enclosing bays of arch-headed windows in a blind arcade, painted white and cream yellow. The roof, with its internal rafters and beams exposed, rests on external columns of the Manege. Somerset House
Somerset House is a large Neoclassical complex situated on the south side of the Strand in central London, overlooking the River Thames, just east of Waterloo Bridge. Valentina Moncada di Paternò (born December 1959 in Rome) is an Italian art historian, gallery owner, and curator who specializes in contemporary art. In 1990 she opened an art gallery in Rome in Via Margutta 54, establishing herself as a talent scout due to a program of young international artists who soon became known worldwide. Biography Valentina Moncada is the daughter of fashion photographer Johnny Moncada and model Joan Whelan. In 1976 she left Rome at 17 years of age to study art history in New York where she obtained a B.A. at Sarah Lawrence College and an M.A. from New York University, Institute of Fine Arts.
