John Mahony
John Mahony (1 January 1864 – 31 December 1943) was an Republic of Ireland, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling at with his local club Ballyduff GAA Club, Ballyduff and with the Kerry GAA, Kerry senior inter-county team in the 1890s. Mahony captained Kerry to their only All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland hurling title in 1891. Biography John Mahony was born in Kilmore, Ballyduff, County Kerry, Ballyduff, County Kerry in 1864. The son of John and Bridget (née Doran), he grew up in an area that was and still is famous for hurling. Like many of his contemporaries Mahony earned his living from fishing and from thatching roofs. He later gained a reputation as a fine sportsman and as an outspoken individual. Ballyduff G.A.A. is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Ballyduff, Co Kerry, Ireland. The club fields both Hurling and Gaelic football teams. The club won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final in 1891. History All Ireland Champions Ballyduff won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 1891. Clonturk Park
Clonturk () is an area on the Northside of Dublin, in Ireland. It is located in the south of the suburb of Drumcondra, just north of the River Tolka, but previously, Clonturk had been an alternative name for Drumcondra and the wider area. Clonturk lies within the Dublin 9 postal district. The name Clonturk translates from the Irish as "Pasture of the boars". There is some evidence that the name originally was ''Ceann Torc'' or the "Headland of the boars", but had changed to Clonturk by the middle of the 16th century, perhaps under the influence of the more famous neighbouring placename Clontarf. Bill O'Callaghan
William Henry O’Callaghan (1868 – 16 January 1946) was an Irish hurler who played as a forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Cork, O'Callaghan first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-four when he first linked up with the Cork senior team. He made his senior debut during the 1892 championship. O'Callaghan immediately became a regular member of the team and won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. In 1892 O'Callaghan captained the team to the All-Ireland title. All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1891
The 1891 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the fifth staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 20 September 1891 and ended on 28 February 1892. Cork were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial series. Kerry won the All-Ireland following a 2-3 to 1-5 defeat of Wexford in the final. Teams A total of seven teams contested the championship. The Leinster championship was contested by four teams: Dublin (Raparees), Kildare (Maynooth), Laois and Wexford (Crossabeg). Daniel Lane (1861 - 3 June 1940) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a forward for the Cork GAA, Cork senior team. Born in Coachford, County Cork, Lane first played competitive hurling in his youth, prior to the establishment of the Gaelic Athletic Association. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-nine when his club team represented Cork. In his sole season with Cork, Lane won one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medal and one Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medal. He was Cork's first ever winning Munster and All-Ireland winning captain. The Cavan County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae an Chabháin) or Cavan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Cavan.
