Jan Rube
Jan Olov Lennart Rube (born 14 April 1952) is a Swedish former professional golfer, who was one of the best amateur players in Sweden in the 1970s. Early life Rube is grandson of Swedish photographer Arthur Rube. Rube began as a caddie at age 9 and learned golf in 1961 at Mölle Golf Club outside Höganäs in the province of Scania in the south of Sweden. He came to represent Mölle Golf Club through the main part of his career, but switched to Rya Golf Club, situated outside Helsingborg, in 1979. Amateur career Rube, at age 17, reached the final of the 1969 Swedish Junior Match-play Championship at Djursholm Golf Club in Stockholm. He first represented Sweden at the 1970 European Youths' Team Championship, being part of the Swedish team, who successfully defended their championship from the year before. Swedish Golfer Of The Year
Swedish Golfer of the Year is awarded annually by the Swedish Golf Federation. The award is individual and awarded since 1966 to the Swedish golfer with the best overall golf performance each year, either in a series of achievements or a single big success. In the assessment the event difficulty, the competition, any surprises and pressing conditions are considered. The jury is made up of player representatives from PGA Sweden, golf journalists, and officials from the Swedish Golf Federation. The European Youths' Team Championship was a European amateur team golf championship for men under 22 organized by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1961. It was played every year until 1982, then every second year. It was discontinued in 2006. Krister Kinell
Krister Kinell (24 September 1953 – 13 February 2019) was a Swedish professional golfer and one of the first Swedish golfers to play on the European Tour. He was awarded the 1981 Swedish Golfer of the Year. Amateur career Kinell reached the final in the 1973 Swedish Junior Match-play Championship, losing on the fourth extra hole in the 36-hole match, on his home course Linköping Golf Club, against his club mate, long time friend and competitor, Bob Bäckstedt. Kinell reached the final again in 1975, losing 4 and 2 against Peter Lindwall, coincidentally also representing Linköping GC. Denis Leslie Watson (born 18 October 1955) is a professional golfer from Zimbabwe. Early life and amateur career Born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) Watson was educated at Oriel Boys High School, Chisipite. He represented Rhodesia at the 1974 Eisenhower Trophy in the Dominican Republic, in the same team as Mark McNulty, George Harvey and Teddy Webber. The team finished 14th and Watson best Rhodesian player. In August 1975, Watson, together with George Harvey, represented Rhodesia at El Rincon Golf Club in Bogotá, Colombia, among 18 two-man nation teams, competing for the Coupa El Rincon over 72 holes stroke-play. Kalmar Golf Club
Kalmar (, , ) is a city in the southeast of Sweden, situated by the Baltic Sea. It had 36,392 inhabitants in 2010 and is the seat of Kalmar Municipality. The Old Course at St Andrews, also known as the Old Lady or the Grand Old Lady, is considered the oldest golf course. It is a public course over common land in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland and is held in trust by the St Andrews Links Trust under an act of Parliament.
