Jack Devnarain (born 9 February 1971), is a South African actor. He is best known for the roles in the television serials ''The Ghost and the Darkness'', '' Isidingo'' and ''Mayfair''. Personal life He was born on 9 February 1971 in Tongaat, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. His mother was a drama teacher. He is married to Pam Devnarain and is a father of two children. Career He started his acting career in Durban through the community theatre circuit. During this period, he studied law at the University of KZN and graduated in 1993. In 1996, he made his acting debut in the film ''The Ghost and the Darkness'' with a minor role. Then in 1998, he appeared in the popular television serial '' Isidingo'' with a supportive role 'Rajesh Kumar' which became very popular. After graduation, he served in the Police Service for nine years until 2003 in the Rapid Response and Crime Prevention units where he was famous for his arrests and convictions. ''Isidingo'' is a South African soap opera, with dialogue mostly in English and isiXhosa. The series premiered on SABC 3 in July 1998 and was broadcast evenings on SABC 3 from Monday to Friday at 19:00. Until 2001 it was titled ''Isidingo: The Need''. The BFI London Film Festival is an annual film festival founded in 1957 and held in the United Kingdom, running for two weeks in October with co-operation from the British Film Institute. Africa In Motion Film Festival
Africa in Motion (AiM) is an annual African film festival which takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in late October/early November. The primary aim of the festival is to offer audiences in Scotland the opportunity to view the best of African cinema from across the continent. AiM 2021 will be the 16th edition showcasing African cinema, the main hosting venue being Edinburgh's Filmhouse Cinema. The festival was founded in 2006 by Lizelle Bisschoff, a South African researcher based in the UK. Programme AiM’s programme includes both contemporary and classic African cinema.
