Jabra Neighborhood
Jabra (), or Gabra, is one of the neighbourhoods of Khartoum, Sudan, located in the southern side of Khartoum. History On 2 July 2015, a significant number of women in Khartoum took action by blocking Jabra's main street, which connected the southern and eastern neighbourhoods of the city. They were protesting the continuous disruption of drinking water supply to their homes, which had been ongoing for five consecutive days. During the protest, the women voiced their grievances against the government and demanded immediate water provision. Witnesses reported that the demonstrators used concrete blocks to obstruct the main street, causing an hour-long disruption in traffic. Subsequently, the police intervened and dispersed the women's demonstrations. On 28 December 2021, a raid conducted by Sudanese intelligence officers on an ISIS cell in the Jabra neighbourhood, resulted in the death of five officers and the injury of one. Khartoum (state)
Khartoum State ( ar, ولاية الخرطوم, Wilāyat al-Kharṭūm) is one of the eighteen states of Sudan. Although it is the smallest state by area (22,142 km2), it is the most populous (5,274,321 in 2008 census). It contains the country's largest city by population, Omdurman, and the city of Khartoum, which is the capital of the state as well as the national capital of Sudan. The capital city contains offices of the state, governmental and non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, and the main airport. The city is located in the heart of Sudan at the confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile, where the two rivers unite to form the River Nile. Khartoum
Khartoum or Khartum ( ; ar, الخرطوم, Al-Khurṭūm, din, Kaartuɔ̈m) is the capital of Sudan. With a population of 5,274,321, its metropolitan area is the largest in Sudan. It is located at the confluence of the White Nile, flowing north from Lake Victoria, and the Blue Nile, flowing west from Lake Tana in Ethiopia. The place where the two Niles meet is known as ''al-Mogran'' or ''al-Muqran'' (; English: "The Confluence"). From there, the Nile continues north towards Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. Abdalla Hamdok
Abdalla Hamdok Al-Kinani (also transliterated ''Abdallah'', ''Hamdouk'', '' AlKinani''; ar, عبدالله حمدوك الكناني; born 1 January 1956) is a Sudanese public administrator who served as the 15th Prime Minister of Sudan from 2019 to 2021, and again from 2021 to 2022. Prior to his appointment, Hamdok served in numerous national and international administrative positions. From November 2011 to October 2018, he was Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). UNECA staff described Hamdok as " diplomat, a humble man and a brilliant and disciplined mind". Al-Shajara () is a neighbourhood located in West Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan. It is situated near Jabra neighbourhood, which includes one of the headquarters of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Hemedti's house.
