Inverness South
Inverness South was a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elected one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It was formed in 1981 when the former district of Inverness County was divided into Inverness North and Inverness South. It existed until 1993, when the boundaries were reformed to create the current provincial district of Inverness and the former district of Guysborough–Eastern Shore–Tracadie. Billy Joe MacLean
William Joseph (Billy Joe) MacLean (born November 24, 1936) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Inverness South in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1981 to 1988. He represented the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party until he was expelled as an MLA on October 30, 1986, and was elected as an independent on February 24, 1987. MacLean was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1936. One of his brothers, Norman J. MacLean, also served in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly for Inverness County from 1963 to 1973. He attended St. Francis Xavier University and is a businessman. From 1968 to 1973, (having been on town council since 1962) he served as deputy mayor of Port Hawkesbury, and from 1973 to 1981 as mayor. He is married to Glenda Auld. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada.
