William MacEachern
William Malcolm (Bill) MacEachern (July 26, 1930 – March 1, 2020) was a politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was born in Judique, Inverness County, Nova Scotia. In 1974, MacEachern was elected to represent the electoral district of Inverness County as a Liberal in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, where he served until his defeat in the 1981 election. Judique, Nova Scotia
Judique is an unincorporated place within the Municipality of the County of Inverness on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is the site of the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre and a stop on the scenic Ceilidh Trail. The origin of the name, pronounced , is uncertain though likely of French origin. It is called Siùdaig in Scottish Gaelic. Judique presents itself as a collection of buildings with Highway 19 as its main street. It is on the western coast of Cape Breton Island, on the edge of St. George's Bay in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The area was settled by migrants from the Scottish Highlands in the late 1700s. Inverness is a provincial electoral district on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Initially created with the name "Juste-au-Corps", the electoral district of Inverness has existed in various forms since 1836. The name was changed to Inverness after lobbying by William Young. It existed continuously as Inverness County until 1981 when it was divided into Inverness North and Inverness South. It was re-formed in 1993. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada. Inverness County is an historical county and census division of Nova Scotia, Canada. Local government is provided by the Municipality of the County of Inverness, the town of Port Hawkesbury and the Whycocomagh 2 Waycobah First Nation reserve. It was named after Sir Cameron Inverness of Scotland, the land from which many of the early settlers came. The Executive Council of Nova Scotia (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Nova Scotia) is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Almost always made up of members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the Cabinet is similar in structure and role to the Canadian Cabinet while being smaller in size with different portfolios. The Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, as representative of the King in Right of Nova Scotia, heads the council, and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council. Gerald Augustine Paul Regan (February 13, 1928 – November 26, 2019) was a Canadian politician (as federal MP and later as Nova Scotia MLA), who served as the 19th premier of Nova Scotia from 1970 to 1978. Early life and education Regan was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, of partial Irish descent, the son of Rose Mary (née Greene) and Walter Edward Regan.
