Idols (season 5)
The fifth season of '' Finnish Idol'' premiered on February 3, 2011 on MTV3. Nina Tapio and Jone Nikula returned as judges, and Sami Pitkämö replaced Patric Sarin as a judge. Heikki Paasonen returned as the show's host, but his co-hosts from the previous season did not return as they were replaced by Niina Herala. ''Idols tekee hyvää'', a Finnish version of the hugely acclaimed American ''Idol Gives Back'' program, was held for the first time on April 24, 2011. The concert was hosted by Heikki Paasonen and Idols' original hostess Ellen Jokikunnas, who replaced Niina Herala for that one episode. This season also includes a new show called ''Idols Studio'', which replaces ''Idols Extra''. Hosted by ''Idols Extra's'' earlier host Janne Kataja, the show includes conversations with varying guests. Nina Tapio
Nina Tapio (born February 24, 1972) is a Finnish singer, songwriter, musical actor, and session musician. Her singing career started at the age of five, when she sang on a children's record. Tapio studied at Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory where she got a degree as a teacher of singing. In 1994 she started the band Taikapeili together with Hanna-Riikka Siitonen, publishing three albums until 1999. In 1998 and 2003 she also recorded two albums with Adiemus. In 2005 Tapio sung background vocals for Geir Rönning in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. She was also on the jury of the Finnish television show Idols the same year, and continued in the 2006–2007 season. She was invited to the Finnish prescreening for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest together with Hanna-Riikka Siitonen, but they did not attend. Idol Gives Back
''Idol Gives Back'' was the name of a charitable campaign that spanned two episodes of ''American Idol'' during its sixth season. A second ''Idol Gives Back'' concert and fundraiser occurred on April 9, 2008, during the seventh season of the show. ''Idol Gives Back'' was not held in 2009 due to the economic crisis and recession. The executive producer released a statement saying that it was not the time to be asking for money from the American public. However, the fundraiser returned on April 21, 2010 during the top 7 results show of season 9. It did not return in future seasons. Jone Nikula
Antti Joonas "Jone" Nikula (born 30 March 1970) is Finnish television and radio personality and a jack-of-all-trades in the music industry. He became well known as a judge in the TV show Idols. Before his TV popularity, Nikula has – among other things – been a host on the Finnish radio station Radio City, and marketing manager of EMI Music Finland. Since 2007, Nikula and Kotiteollisuus frontman Jouni Hynynen have hosted Äijät, a TV show about the professions and (in the second season in 2008) hobbies of "real men". ''Idols'' is a Finnish reality-television singing competition that airs on Nelonen (and formerly also on MTV3 and Sub). It debuted in the summer of 2003, and went on to become one of the most popular shows on Finnish television. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which was first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best unsigned singer in Finland through a series of nationwide auditions, and the outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by public phone voting.
