ICC World Test Championship
The ICC World Test Championship is a league competition for Test cricket run by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which started on 1 August 2019. It is intended to be the premier championship for Test cricket. It is in line with the ICC's goal of having one pinnacle tournament for each of the three formats of international cricket. The original plans to hold the competition in 2009, replacing the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, were abandoned. International Cricket Council
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the world governing body of cricket. Headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, its members are 108 national associations, with 12 Full Members and 96 Associate Members. Founded in 1909 as the ''Imperial Cricket Conference'', it was renamed the ''International Cricket Conference'' in 1965, and took up its current name in 1987. The ICC has 108 member nations currently: 12 Full Members that play Test matches, and 96 Associate Members. 2021 ICC World Test Championship Final
The final of the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship, the inaugural ICC World Test Championship, was played from 18 to 23 June 2021 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, England, between India and New Zealand. It was initially scheduled for five days, but time lost during the game to rain interruptions meant that the planned reserve day was used. New Zealand won the match by eight wickets to be crowned as the winners of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship. New Zealand won the ICC Test Championship mace for the first time, and were also awarded the cash prize of US$1.6 million, while India won US$800,000. The England cricket team represents England and Wales in international cricket. Haroon Lorgat ( gu, હારૂન લોરગાટ; born 26 May 1960) is a South African businessman and chartered accountant. He has served as CEO of the International Cricket Council and Cricket South Africa. Personal life and education Lorgat is of Indian descent, his family originating from a small village called Manekpore, Rethvania in the western state of Gujarat. Lorgat was raised and schooled in Port Elizabeth. He graduated from Rhodes University with a B.Com. In 1985 he completed training with a Big 4 firm and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
