Italy In The Eurovision Song Contest 2012
Italy participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Italian entry was selected through an internal selection, organised by the Italian broadcaster RAI. The artist was selected by a special committee from the participants of the Sanremo Music Festival 2012 and the song selection was carried out by the artist. Nina Zilli represented Italy with the song " L'amore è femmina (Out of Love)", which placed 9th in the final, scoring 101 points. Sanremo Music Festival 2012
The Sanremo Music Festival 2012 was the 62nd annual Sanremo Music Festival. It was held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, during the five nights between 14 February 2012 and 18 February 2012, and it was broadcast by Rai 1. The show, presented by Gianni Morandi with Ivana Mrazova and Rocco Papaleo, was a competition divided in two different sections. The "Big Artists Section", including 14 established Italian artists performing a previously unreleased song, was won by Emma Marrone with "Non è l'inferno". The "Newcomers Section", won by Alessandro Casillo performing "È vero (che ci sei)", was a competition starring eight debuting or little-known artists. Matia Bazar
Matia Bazar () is an Italian pop band formed in Genoa in 1975. The original members of the group were Piero Cassano (keyboards), Aldo Stellita (bass), Carlo Marrale (guitar, vocals), Giancarlo Golzi (drums) and Antonella Ruggiero (vocals). They represented Italy in the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest with a song called "Raggio di luna". They are known for the quality of their female vocalists: after Antonella Ruggiero, Laura Valente, Silvia Mezzanotte, Roberta Faccani and currently Luna Dragonieri. Their major hits were ''Solo tu'' (1978), '' Vacanze Romane'' (1982), Souvenir (1985) and '' Ti Sento'' (1985), which peaked on the charts in Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. Estonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Kuula" written by Ott Lepland and Aapo Ilves. The song was performed by Ott Lepland. The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2012'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Ten songs competed in each semi-final and the top five from each semi-final as determined by a jury panel and public vote qualified to the final. France participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Echo (You and I)" written by William Rousseau, Jean-Pierre Pilot and Anggun. The song was performed by Anggun. Giordana Angi (born 12 January 1994) is an italian- French singer, songwriter and music producer. She debuted in the "Newcomers" section at the Sanremo Music Festival 2012 with the song "Incognita poesia". In 2019 she ended up second in the eighteenth edition of the Italian talent show ''Amici di Maria De Filippi''. Erica Musci (born April 6, 1990), better known by her stage name Erica Mou, is an Italian singer and musician. Alessandro Andrea Casillo (born 15 June 1996) is an Italian singer, launched by the talent show Io Canto. In 2012 he won the Sixty-second edition of the Sanremo Music Festival in the Youth category, with the song ''È vero (che ci sei)''. Samuele Bersani (born 1 October 1970, in Rimini, Italy) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He received the "Mia Martini" Critics Award at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2000 and in 2012, with the songs "Replay" and "Un pallone", respectively.
