Phyllis Thede
Phyllis Thede (born February 23, 1954) is an American politician, representing the 93rd District in the Iowa House of Representatives as a member of the Iowa Democratic Party. With a background in community education and unions, she was first elected in 2009. She is married and the mother of Robin Thede, a nationally known comedic actress and writer, and two other daughters. , Thede serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Ethics, Local Government, and Natural Resources committees. She also serves as the ranking member of the Environmental Protection committee and as a member of the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee and of the Human Rights Board. Iowa General Assembly
The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. Like the federal United States Congress, the General Assembly is a bicameral body, composed of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives respectively. The Senate consists of four year terms and the House consists of two year terms. The General Assembly convenes within the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Composition The Iowa General Assembly consists of 50 senators and 100 representatives. Each senator represents about 60,927 people and each representative about 30,464 people . There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Scott County, Iowa
Scott County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 174,669, making it the third-most populous county in Iowa. The county seat is Davenport. Scott County is included in the Davenport– Moline- Rock Island, IA– IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The first American settlement in the area now known as Scott County was Clark's Ferry or Clark's Landing (now Buffalo) in 1833. Other early towns included Davenport (now the county seat and largest city) and the town of Rockingham (which ceased to exist in 1847). James Middleswart
James Ira Middleswart (April 8, 1912 – August 5, 1993) was an American politician. James Middleswart was born to parents David and Eva Morgan Middleswart in Indianola, Iowa, on April 8, 1912. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1930, studied business at Simpson College until 1932, and subsequently became a farmer. Middleswart was a soil district commissioner and district secretary before winning his first election to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1966. Middleswart held the District 27 seat for two terms, won reelection in District 92 in 1970, and occupied the District 93 seat from 1973 to 1979.
