History Of Sudan (1969–85)
On 1969 Sudanese coup d'état, May 25, 1969, several young officers calling themselves the National Revolutionary Command Council (Sudan), Free Officers Movement (after the Free Officers Movement (Egypt), Egyptian officers who instigated the Egyptian revolution of 1952) seized power in Sudan and started the Nimeiri era in the history of Sudan. The pound is divided into 100 piastres (or ''qirsh'' () in Arabic). It is issued by the Central Bank of Sudan.
