HCNG Dispenser
An HCNG dispenser is a type of fuel dispenser at a filling station that is used to pump HCNG into vehicles. Principle An HCNG dispenser is in general combined with a CNG dispenser for natural gas vehicles as both use the same feed stream from the compressed natural gas grid, in addition the hydrogen production method differs per station, some stations use on-site generation where other stations use on-site delivery of hydrogen to feed the HCNG dispensers. A gasoline pump is a machine at a filling station that is used to pump gasoline (petrol), diesel, or other types of liquid fuel into vehicles. A hydrogen station is a storage or filling station for Hydrogen. The hydrogen is dispensed by weight. There are two filling pressures in common use. H70 or 700 bar, and the older standard H35 or 350 bar. As of 2021 around 550 filling stations were available worldwide. A hydrogen compressor is a device that increases the pressure of hydrogen by reducing its volume resulting in compressed hydrogen or liquid hydrogen. Traditionally, applications for hydrogen compressors included Chlorine electrolyser and many chemical applications like the production of hydrogen peroxide (HPPO). The newer applications related to green and environmentally friendly technologies include fuel cells and electrolysis for hydrogen production. BC Hydrogen Highway
The BC Hydrogen Highway was a planned hydrogen highway that was supposed to link Vancouver and Whistler with seven hydrogen fueling stations. On March 13, 2007, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced funding of almost $200 million Canadian for environmental projects in B.C. including the hydrogen highway. Five stations were built, one each in Whistler, at the University of British Columbia, in Burnaby, and two that were later moved to Surrey. But aside from Whistler they are little-used. Reportedly, only three leased Ford fuel cell cars remain in Surrey. There was a fleet of 20 New Flyer Industries H40LFR conventional buses. However, these buses were pulled out of service in 2014-2015, and were rumoured to be converted to diesel-electric hybrids. However, this has not happened, and as of 2022, the deposition of these buses are unknown.
