Hopsin
Marcus Jamal Hopson (born July 18, 1985), known professionally as Hopsin, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Los Angeles. In 2007, he was signed to Ruthless Records, and had founded his own record label, Funk Volume, in 2009. He would then go on to found another record label, Undercover Prodigy, in 2016. Hopsin has released five studio albums, ''Gazing at the Moonlight'' through Ruthless Records, ''Raw'', ''Knock Madness'' and '' Pound Syndrome'' along with the collaborative project Haywire with SwizZz through Funk Volume and '' No Shame''. He is well known for his use of white colored eye contacts in music videos, performances, and interviews. ''Knock Madness'' is the third studio album by American rapper Hopsin. It was released on November 24, 2013, by Funk Volume and distributed by Empire Distribution, EMPIRE. Hopsin has said that the overall vibe of the album is different from his previous album ''Raw (Hopsin album), Raw'' and that he has said all he needs to about Hopsin#2003–2009: Career beginnings, Ruthless Records and Funk Volume, leaving Ruthless Records. The album contains guest appearances from rappers SwizZz, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, and Tech N9ne, among others. ''No Shame'' is the fifth studio album by American rapper Hopsin. The album was released on November 24, 2017, through Undercover Prodigy and 300 Entertainment. Background Following the release of '' Pound Syndrome'' in 2015. Hopsin announced his departure from Funk Volume in January 2016. Hopsin cited the reason was due to issues he had with co-founder Damien Ritter. In March 2016, Hopsin released "Ill Mind of Hopsin 8". The song was a diss track directed towards Damien Ritter and Funk Volume. Hopsin officially left Funk Volume after the song's release and went on to create a new label called Undercover Prodigy. SwizZz
Justin Ritter (born September 28, 1987), known professionally as SwizZz, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is best known for significantly collaborating with childhood friend Hopsin, and being signed to their record label Funk Volume, which was founded by Hopsin himself. He has released various singles and released two mixtapes including '' Haywire'' with Hopsin, and ''Good Morning SwizZzle''. Early life SwizZz initially met Hopsin in high school, where they were classmates and became close friends. After high school SwizZz got accepted into the University of California at Irvine, but after two years he decided to put his education on hold, while he would pursue a career in music. ''Pound Syndrome'' is the fourth studio album by American rapper Hopsin. The album was released on July 24, 2015, through Funk Volume and Warner Bros. Records. The album was supported by four singles: "Ill Mind of Hopsin 7", "Crown Me", "Fly" and "Fort Collins". Funk Volume
Funk Volume was an American independent record label founded by American rapper Hopsin. The label was home to artists Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, SwizZz, and producers DJ Hoppa and Kato. The label is defunct due to a feud between co-founders Hopsin and Damien "Dame" Ritter in regards to financial alterations. Following the feud Hopsin decided to leave the label, resulting in all affiliated artists leaving Funk Volume. The label was shut down soon after. ''Gazing at the Moonlight'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Hopsin. It was released on October 27, 2009, through Ruthless Records. This was Hopsin's only record released with Ruthless Records as the album created bitter tension between Ruthless and Hopsin, due to the lack of promotion and financial compensation for the album. ''Gazing at the Moonlight'' was supported by two singles: "Pans in the Kitchen" and "I'm Here". The title refers to "Gazing at the Moonlight" hoping and wishing on a dream to come true. The album stylistically incorporates elements of horrorcore, pop rap and comedy hip hop. Undercover Prodigy is an American independent record label and production company founded by rapper Hopsin. History Originally intended to be the name of his clothing line announced in late 2014, with the logo being prominently visible in the music video for "Fort Collins" (the final single Hopsin released on Funk Volume), the rapper formally announced Undercover Prodigy as the name of his new independent record label, following his departure from Funk Volume, in early 2016. ''Raw'' is the second studio album by American rapper Hopsin. The album was released on November 19, 2010, through Funk Volume. The album contains guest appearances from rappers SwizZz and Cryptic Wisdom. Like its predecessors, the album's production was entirely handled by Hopsin himself. ''Raw'' was supported by two singles, "Nocturnal Rainbows" and "Sag My Pants". Despite the release of the previous album, ''Gazing at the Moonlight'', Hopsin considers ''Raw'' as his debut album. Jarren Giovanni Benton (born October 26, 1981), is an American rapper from Decatur, Georgia. In early 2012, he signed to rapper Hopsin's independent record label Funk Volume and released a mixtape titled, ''Freebasing with Kevin Bacon'' in June 2012.
