Funk Volume
Funk Volume was an American independent record label founded by American rapper Hopsin. The label was home to artists Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, SwizZz, and producers DJ Hoppa and Kato. The label is defunct due to a feud between co-founders Hopsin and Damien "Dame" Ritter in regards to financial alterations. Following the feud Hopsin decided to leave the label, resulting in all affiliated artists leaving Funk Volume. The label was shut down soon after. History Formation and success (2009-2015) Following an ill-fated record deal with Ruthless Records rapper Hopsin founded the independent record label Funk Volume, while Dame Ritter acted as business manager over all the artists and the label. To start the label Hopsin went on LegalZoom, set up the business, and got the papers in the mail. Hopsin
Marcus Jamal Hopson (born July 18, 1985), known professionally as Hopsin, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Los Angeles. In 2007, he was signed to Ruthless Records, and had founded his own record label, Funk Volume, in 2009. He would then go on to found another record label, Undercover Prodigy, in 2016. Hopsin has released five studio albums, ''Gazing at the Moonlight'' through Ruthless Records, ''Raw'', ''Knock Madness'' and '' Pound Syndrome'' along with the collaborative project Haywire with SwizZz through Funk Volume and '' No Shame''. He is well known for his use of white colored eye contacts in music videos, performances, and interviews. ''State of Mind'' is the second extended play by American rapper Dizzy Wright. It was released on April 15, 2014, by Funk Volume. The EP features production by 6ix, MLB, Roc & Mayne, Ron Hayden and Sledgren, along with a lone guest appearance by Rockie Fresh. It was supported by the single: "Everywhere I Go". Upon its release, the EP debuted at number 54 on the ''Billboard'' 200. ''Haywire'' is a collaborative mixtape by American rappers Hopsin and SwizZz. The project was the debut release by independent hip hop record label Funk Volume. It was released on July 18, 2009 on DatPiff. In addition, a physical release of the project debuted as well onto iTunes on May 8, 2012. The mixtape spawned three singles, "Lucifer Effect", "Bad Motherfucker" and "Leave Me Alone". As of 2016, the project has been downloaded over 500,000 times. Undercover Prodigy is an American independent record label and production company founded by rapper Hopsin. History Originally intended to be the name of his clothing line announced in late 2014, with the logo being prominently visible in the music video for "Fort Collins" (the final single Hopsin released on Funk Volume), the rapper formally announced Undercover Prodigy as the name of his new independent record label, following his departure from Funk Volume, in early 2016. Production immediately began on "Ill Mind of Hopsin 8", the next episode in the "Ill Mind of Hopsin" saga. The song was released on March 8, 2016, and details the reasoning behind Hopsin's decision to leave Funk Volume, the issues with Damien "Dame" Ritter, and the status of Undercover Prodigy.
