Himno De Aragón
"" (; "Anthem of Aragon") is the official anthem of the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. Its music, based on the oldest Aragonese musical tradition, was written by Aragonese composer Antón García Abril, with lyrics written by Aragonese poets Ildefonso Manuel Gil, Ángel Guinda, Rosendo Tello and Manuel Vilas. Its use was regulated by a 1989 Aragonese Act, which states that the Anthem of Aragon will be played in all relevant official public events organized by the community or other local-level Aragonese administrations. The Act also indicates that the Anthem can be sung in any of the languages of Aragon. However, the Act does not supply an official version of the lyrics in Aragonese or Catalan. Antón García Abril
Antón García Abril OAXS (19 May 1933 – 17 March 2021) was a Spanish composer and musician. He composed many classical orchestral works, chamber and vocal pieces, as well as over 150 scores for film and television. Biography Between 1974 and 2003, he was the head of the department of Compositions and Musical Forms (Composición y Formas Musicales) of the Madrid Royal Conservatory, and in 1982 he was elected a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. In 1994, he was awarded Spain's Premio Nacional de Música for composition, and in 2008, he was also named a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia. He died on 17 March 2021, at the age of 87 from COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. Anthem
An anthem is a musical composition of celebration, usually used as a symbol for a distinct group, particularly the national anthems of countries. Originally, and in music theory and religious contexts, it also refers more particularly to short sacred choral work (still frequently seen in Sacred Harp and other types of shape note singing) and still more particularly to a specific form of liturgical music. Canto a la libertad (Chant to Liberty) is the most well-known song by Aragonese singer-songwriter José Antonio Labordeta. It was composed in 1975 to represent "a dream of solidarity, humanity, social justice, hope and freedom" and constitute "a hymn to the Aragonese people". Proposal as Anthem of Aragon As early as 1989, in the debate for the urgent approval of an Himno de Aragón in the Cortes of Aragon, the Aragonese Party (PAR) proposed Canto a la libertad as the official anthem, after first consulting the initiative with Labordeta.
