Himachal Pradesh High Court
The Himachal Pradesh High Court is the High Court of the state of Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh was born as a result of integration of twenty six Province and four Punjab hill States into a Centrally Administered Area on 15 April 1948. The Central Government promulgated the Himachal Pradesh (Courts) Order, 1948 on 15 August 1948. As per Paragraph 3 of this Order, the Court of Judicial Commissioner was established for Himachal Pradesh and the Court was housed at "Harvingtan" (Kelston area, Bharari, Shimla). It was vested with the powers of a High Court under the Judicial Commissioner's Court Act, 1950. The Court of Judicial commissioner started functioning on 15 August 1948. The Punjab High Court rules and orders with suitable amendments were made applicable. Himachal Pradesh (; ; "Snow-laden Mountain Province") is a state in the northern part of India. Leila Seth
Leila Seth (20 October 1930 – 5 May 2017) was an Indian judge who served as the first woman judge on the Delhi High Court and became the first woman to become Chief Justice of a state High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court, on 5 August 1991. She was also the first woman to be designated as a senior counsel by the Supreme Court of India. She sat on a number of enquiry commissions, including one into the death of 'Biscuit Baron' Rajan Pillai, and was also a part of the three-member bench of the Justice Verma Committee that was established to overhaul India's rape laws in the aftermath of the infamous 2012 Delhi gang-rape case. Justice Mohammad Rafiq (born 25 May 1960) is an Indian Judge. He is former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court, Orissa High Court and Meghalaya High Court and also former Judge of Rajasthan High Court. Twice, he served as the Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. He is also currently serving as the Chancellor (ex-officio) of Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla. Mansoor Ahmad Mir is an Indian judge and the former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Career Mir was born on 25 April 1955, at Rajpora village of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. He obtained a bachelor's degree (BA) from Amar Singh College in 1976 and LL.B in 1978 from Kashmir University. Jagadish Bhalla (born 1 November 1948) is an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan High Court. Vinod Kumar Gupta also known as V. K. Gupta (born 10 September 1947) is a retired Indian Judge and first Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. Doraiswamy Raju or D. Raju (born 2 July 1939) was an Indian Judge and former Justice of The Supreme Court of India. Career Raju was graduated in 1959 and obtained B.L. degree in Law in 1961 from the Madras University. Makani Narayana Rao
Justice Makani Narayana "M. N." Rao (born 22 April 1936) is a former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh, and former chairman of the National Commission on Backward Classes. Rao enrolled as an advocate of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on 9 October 1961. He practiced before the court for more than 12 years, specializing in constitutional law. In 1979, Rao was appointed a legal secretary of the government of Andhra Pradesh, and was appointed a selection grade district judge on 25 July 1983.
