Hillsborough (frequently spelled Hillsboro) is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Hillsborough in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 2,156 at the 2020 census, out of 5,939 in the entire town. Geography The CDP is in the southeastern part of the town of Hillsborough, along the Contoocook River. The southern border of the CDP follows the town line with Deering. Parts of the eastern and southern borders follow the Contoocook River. The northern border is the Route 202/ 9 bypass, and the western border follows Route 202 and a power line in the valley of the North Branch of the Contoocook. Routes 202 and 9 lead east from Hillsborough to Concord, the state capital. US 202 leads south to Peterborough, while NH 9 leads southwest to Keene. Deering, New Hampshire
Deering is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,904 at the 2020 census. History First settled about 1765, the town was incorporated on January 17, 1774, by John Wentworth, governor of the Province of New Hampshire. He named it "Deering" after the maiden name of his wife, Frances Deering Wentworth, just as two years earlier he had bestowed Francestown with her first name. Deering had 928 residents when the first census was taken in 1790. By 1859, the population was 890. Its hills and valleys were well suited for agriculture. Industries included two sawmills, one gristmill, and one clothing factory. Weare is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 9,092 at the 2020 census. It is close to two important New Hampshire cities, Manchester and Concord. History It was granted to veterans of the Canadian wars in 1735 by Governor Jonathan Belcher, who named it "Beverly-Canada" after their hometown, Beverly, Massachusetts. But the charter was ruled invalid because of a prior claim by the Masonian proprietors, who granted as "Hale's Town" to Ichabod Robie in 1749.
