"Hey You" is a song written and recorded by American rock band 311. It is the first single from the group's ninth studio album, ''Uplifter''. The single was released through Volcano Entertainment on April 10, 2009. It was received generally well and became their eighth top-five hit on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart. Release and reception "Hey You" was released to radio stations on April 7, 2009 and was made available for digital download on April 10. The song was well received, generating numerous favorable reviews. William Goldman at Spin Magazine praised the song, saying that " Omaha's pseudo-Rasta rap-rockers are ''still'' around—and better than ever!" 311 (pronounced "three eleven") is an American rock band from Omaha, Nebraska. The band was formed in 1988 by vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum, lead guitarist Jim Watson, bassist Aaron "P-Nut" Wills, and drummer Chad Sexton. Watson was replaced by Tim Mahoney in 1990. In 1992, Doug "SA" Martinez joined to sing and provide turntables. 311 has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, four EPs and four DVDs. After a series of independent releases, 311 was signed to Capricorn Records in 1992 and released the albums ''Music'' (1993) and '' Grassroots'' (1994) to moderate success. Joe Lynch (born March 23, 1976) is an American film and music video director, film producer, cinematographer, and actor. Life and career Lynch was born on Long Island, New York. Though he began his career as a child actor, he soon became obsessed with filmmaking itself. His first two student shorts, ''mAHARBA'' and ''hiBeams'', were selected to screen at many film festivals.
