Henning Eriksen
Henning Eriksen (February 28, 1878 – October 1, 1922, surname sometimes Erichsen) was a Norwegian actor. Eriksen made his stage debut in 1903 at the Central Theater in Oslo, and from 1904 to 1912 he was engaged with the National Theater in Bergen. There, among other performances, he distinguished himself in the role of Einar in Henrik Ibsen's play ''Brand''. Eriksen also appeared in films in both Norway and Denmark. His film debut was in 1913 in the Danish silent film ''Højt spil'', and he appeared in a total of six films from 1913 to 1917. Eriksen was married to the actress Magda Blanc from 1906 to 1915. They were the parents of a daughter, Magda Blanc-Eriksen, and a son, the actor Henning Blanc. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. ''Paria'' is a Norwegian silent film from 1916. The film was directed by Peter Lykke-Seest, who also wrote the script. It is believed to have been the first film produced by the company Christiania Film Co. A/S. For unknown reasons, the film was never examined by the censorship committee and was therefore never shown in public. The film is considered lost. The Danish Film Database ( da, Filmdatabasen, formerly Danish National Filmography, Danish: ''Danmarks Nationalfilmografi''), is a database maintained by the Danish Film Institute (DFI) about Danish films since 1896 including silent films, short films, and documentary films. When it went online in November 2000, it included data on all 1,000 Danish films produced between 1968 and 2000, and 10,000 persons, which by 2014 had been expanded to 22,000 titles, 106,000 persons and 6,000 companies. ''Unge hjerter'' (Young Hearts) is a Norwegian silent film from 1917. It is considered lost. According to the cinematographer Ottar Gladtvet, who described the filming in his autobiography, parts of the film were shot outside Røros at Easter. The film premiered at the Palace Theater on June 9, 1917. Plot An engaged couple (Harriet Wold and Ragnar Berntzen) have both fallen in love with someone else: Wang and Anna. Silent Film
A silent film is a film with no synchronized recorded sound (or more generally, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of title cards. The term "silent film" is something of a misnomer, as these films were almost always accompanied by live sounds. During the silent era that existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, a pianist, theater organist—or even, in large cities, a small orchestra—would often play music to accompany the films. Pianists and organists would play either from sheet music, or improvisation. Sometimes a person would even narrate the inter-title cards for the audience. ''Brand'' is a play by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. It is a verse tragedy, written in 1865 and first performed in Stockholm, Sweden on 24 March 1867. Brand is a priest who accepts the consequence of his choices, and is deeply bound to doing the "right thing". He believes primarily in the will of man, and lives by the belief "all or nothing". To make compromises is therefore difficult, or questionable. Brand's beliefs render him lonely, because those around him, when put to the test, generally cannot or will not follow his example. He is a young idealist whose main purpose is to save the world, or at least people's souls, but his judgment of others are harsh and unfair.
