Helleruplund Church
Helleruplund Church (Danish: Helleruplund Kirke) is a Church of Denmark parish church situated at Bernstorffsvej 73 in Hellerup. Gentofte Municipality, Greater Copenhagen, Denmark. With just over 600 seats, it is the second largest church in the Diocese of Helsingør. History A new church in the Bernstorffsvej area was first proposed in 1940. A committee was put in charge of realizing the project in 1942. A site was also acquired. The chair of the committee was the chaplain from Hellerup Church, Nørup-Nielsen, who would later become the first pastor of Helleruplund Church. He was the one who proposed the name with a reference to the property at Bernstorffsvej 98. The construction of the church was delayed by World War II and the shortage of building materials that followed after the liberation. Bernstorffsvej
Bernstorffsvej is a major road in the Gentofte Municipality, located in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Lyngby to a five-way roundabout on Jægersborg Allé in the north. The road passes several notable Danish buildings, including Gentofte Town Hall, Helleruplund Church, the Roman Catholic, St. Theresa's Church, Hellerup Cemetery and Bernstorff Park. History In 1752, the pheasantry at Jægersborg was given to Count Johann Hartwig Ernst von Bernstorff from the King. Bernstorff Palace was later completed by him in 1765. Jean Marmillod, a French engineer, was called to Denmark by Bernstorff to improve the road systems around Copenhagen. Marmillod thus became responsible for the construction of Bernstorffsvej, which he completed in 1770. Bodil Koch
Bodil Koch (25 October 1903 – 7 January 1972) was the wife of a prominent professor, a Social Democrat, and a minister. She was married to professor Hal Koch, an advocate of democracy as a continuing deliberation instead of the majority's rights over the minorities. She represented the Social Democrats in the Danish Parliament, Folketinget from 1947 – 1968. In 1947, she was elected to the Folketing and three years later she became the first female Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs in the world and the third female minister in Denmark. She only held the office for six weeks, as Prime Minister Hans Hedtoft resigned 30 October 1950 over a dispute on the continued rationing of butter. When the Social Democrats returned to the power in 1953, she again was appointed Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs. She held office until 1966, when she was appointed new Minister of Culture. Frederikshavn
Frederikshavn () is a Danish town in Frederikshavn municipality, Region Nordjylland, on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. Its name translates to "Frederik's harbor". Gentofte Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark (''Region Hovedstaden'') on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Hellerup () is a very affluent district of Gentofte Municipality in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The most urban part of the district is centred on Strandvejen and is bordered by Østerbro to the south and the Øresund to the east. It comprises Tuborg Havn, the redeveloped brewery site of Tuborg Breweries, with the Waterfront Shopping Center, a marina and the headquarters of several large companies.
