Hajime Waki
Hajime Waki (脇一, born in 1999) is a Honduran-Japanese singer-songwriter of Bachata music that gained popularity after playing and composing songs of this genre in Japanese. He is the first artist who composes mixing this three languages altogether in one song (Japanese, English, Spanish). He has a mixture of cultures there being born in Honduras and his mother being a Japanese Dominican. Biography He was born and raised in the city of Comayagua in Honduras, his father is from Honduras and his mother is Japanese with Dominican Republic descent. Since he was a child he had a fondness for writing romantic poems as well as being very interested in the regional music. During his high school days he had a brief rock band where they came to play in the city until they separated, it is there where he begins to compose bachata music and write lyrics for his songs at home, in his own words his greatest inspiration. Bachata (music)
Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. It is a fusion of southwestern European influences, mainly Spanish guitar music, with indigenous Taino and Sub Saharan African musical elements, representative of the cultural diversity of the Dominican population. The first recorded compositions of bachata was done by José Manuel Calderón in 1962 ("Borracho de amor") from the Dominican Republic. Bachata originates from bolero and son (and later, from the mid-1980s, merengue). The original term used to name the genre was ''amargue'' ("bitterness", "bitter music" or "blues music"), until the mood-neutral term ''bachata'' became popular. Comayagua
Comayagua () is a city, municipality and old capital of Honduras, located northwest of Tegucigalpa on the highway to San Pedro Sula and above sea level. The accelerated growth experienced by the city of Comayagua led the municipal authorities to structure a territorial reorganization plan. Between the years of 1945 -1975 the population of the city quadrupled due to the high rate of population growth achieved at that time (4.8%) and to migratory movements in the interior of the country. In 2020 the estimated population of the city was 111,700. It is the capital of the Comayagua department of Honduras and it is noted for its wealth of Spanish Colonial architecture. Anthony "Romeo" Santos (born July 21, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actor who is best known as the frontman and lead vocalist of the bachata group Aventura. In 2002, the song " Obsesión" reached number one in Italy for 16 consecutive weeks. He released several albums with Aventura before the group broke up. Aventura (band)
Aventura is an American bachata group formed in The Bronx, New York. With the lineup always consisting of the members Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos (Len Melody), and Max Santos (Max Agende), they are regarded as one of the most influential Latin groups of all time. All of the members are of Dominican descent, although Romeo is also half Puerto Rican on his mother's side. They were the first major bachata act to have originated in the United States instead of the Dominican Republic. The group was integral to the evolution of bachata music and are the pioneers of the modern bachata sound.
