The Hainan Library () is located in the Hainan Cultural Park at 36 Guoxing Avenue, Haikou, Hainan, China. It was established on February 2, 2007. Qiongshan District
Qiongshan District, alternately romanized as Kiungshan, is one district in Haikou City, Hainan. History As Qiongzhou, formerly romanized as Kiungchow, the district was formerly a separate city which served as the center of Chinese administration on Hainan Island when it formed a part of Guangdong Province. Haikou
Haikou (; ), also spelled as Hoikow is the capital and most populous city of the Chinese province of Hainan. Haikou city is situated on the northern coast of Hainan, by the mouth of the Nandu River. The northern part of the city is on the Haidian Island, which is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River, a branch of the Nandu. Administratively, Haikou is a prefecture-level city, comprising four districts, and covering . There are 2,046,189 inhabitants in the built-up area, all living within the four urban districts of the city. Haikou was originally a port city, serving as the port for Qiongshan. Guoxing Avenue
Guoxing Avenue () is a major street in Haikou, Hainan, China. It runs in an east-west direction in the heart of the city. Its west end terminates at Longkun Road and its east end terminates at the Qiongzhou Bridge which crosses the Nandu River. History Guoxing Avenue was once Haikou's main airport (since relocated to Haikou Meilan International Airport southeast of the city centre). Built around 2005, the avenue was first seldom used for vehicular traffic route. Most of the land on the north and south sides were unoccupied. It has since become a heavily trafficked road. In 2017, the west end was connected to a newly built road that provides access to the new neighbourhood 'Haikou West Coast' located around 7 km west of the Haikou city centre. The Hainan Museum () is on Guoxing Avenue, Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province, China. It was established in 1984, then moved to its permanent location in the Hainan Cultural Park at 68 Guoxing Avenue. There, it was officially reopened on November 15, 2008. The facility is one of three large public works projects constructed around the same time on Guoxing Avenue alongside one another. The others are Hainan Library and Hainan Centre for the Performing Arts. Since opening, it has received more than 800,000 visitors, including former leader Hu Jintao and Premier Li Keqiang. The Hainan Centre for the Performing Arts () is located at 68 Guoxing Avenue in Haikou, Hainan, China. The entire facility is 25,000 m2, with an 8,253 m2 auxiliary space, and an actual theatre space of 2,657 m2. The venue can accommodate up to 1,230 people. The first libraries in China came into being during the time of the Shang dynasty (the sixteenth to eleventh centuries B.C.) as intellectuals known as the Shi (historians) and Wu (diviners) emerged from manual labor to special occupations for the creation and spread of culture. The Chinese Library Classification (CLC; ), also known as Classification for Chinese Libraries (CCL), is effectively the national library classification scheme in China. It is used in almost all primary and secondary schools, universities, academic institutions, as well as public libraries. It is also used by publishers to classify all books published in China. The Book Classification of Chinese Libraries (BCCL) was first published in 1975, under the auspices of China's Administrative Bureau of Cultural Affairs. Its fourth edition (1999) was renamed CLC. In September 2010, the fifth edition was published by National Library of China Publishing House.
